This was my second time eating here. Been a few years since the last. I like the layout of the place place and the staff are friendly enough. We showed up and sat at our table and the salsa was immediately brought out. Waited 10 minutes before the chips arrived while joking that we needed spoons to eat the salsa. Ordered margaritas. One peach and one strawberry which literally had barely any alcohol in them if at all. But based on what they charge for them I could have bought my own ingredients. 9 dollars.. for a maybe 10oz drink?! No wonder the prices aren’t on the menu! But whatever so we order our food and I order a burrito grande with shredded chicken and beans smothered In queso. Doesn’t come with any sides for 13 dollars. I ordered a side of beans and rice (8 dollars extra!)
Food comes out and the portion size was impressive until I started actually eating the thing. It was 80 percent beans and 20 percent flavorless chicken…. Nothing better than a flavorless bean burrito to go with my side of flavorless beans and rice. The cheese sauce on the top may as well have been water with as much flavor it provided to the ol taste buds. I tried the wife’s beef sancho and realized why she had only taken a few bites. Bland as I’ve ever had. Seasonings would do wonders for this place if they used them. My daughter barely ate her chimichanga which is a first in her 12 years of life.
Then the bill comes. Sticker shock to say the least. Now if the food and drinks were good I’d have accepted the cost but honestly I felt ripped off by the quality of food they served. Surprisingly there was a line of people waiting for a table as we were leaving and I’m shocked. Atchison doesn’t have a lot of choices so maybe that’s why? Needless to say after this I won’t be back. Taco Bell may be a better pick than this.

We had lunch here and the chips and salsa were good. I ordered tacos because i said “you can never go wrong with tacos” but they were and meat had no seasoning and put pico de gallo on top and thats it. No taco salsa no flavor. Im Mexican and this is not in my opinion a real Mexican restaurant but a Mexican style American Restaurant.
The Service is good very nice people work here and atmosphere is pleasant.

I travel a lot for work. I try all different restaurants in the towns I stay in. This is by far the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. I was really excited to try out a bunch of places to eat here in Atchison, but I’ve been stuck on these guys and their Carne Asada tacos the past 3 days. Amazing place to eat and you definitely won’t regret it.

I stopped by for a meal. The server was pleasant and there was only one other table being served in the restaurant. The chips were warm, the salsa as what you would expect from Kansas. The menu had a tale of how the family had come here from Mexico to serve their rendition of family style fair to Atchison. Yet I ordered the chicken floutas to be given what I could only describe as Jose Ole chicken taquitos right out of the box. I describe them as such only because I have eaten them many times. I asked the server if there had been a mistake for which I was informed that this was and their version of floutas. I shrugged it off as I knew the only thing authentic about this place was the Diet Coke. I ate the familiar taquitos, being the corn wrapped pasty chicken filled right out of the box off the Walmart shelf authenticity most are used to. The young white cook in the back tried his best. Not recommended.

The last time I visited my companion didn’t even finish a whole beef taco. He stated that they were gross. I got the Fritos taco (fried flour tortilla taco) with shredded chicken and it was good, but could have used some kind of seasoning on the meat. Salsa is so-so (at least it doesn’t taste like ketchup or pasta sauce). The waitress was not attentive & somewhat rude though we are/were very low maintenance. I attempted to ask for water & was ignored. I generally try not to complain about the staff & most people who work there are very kind. However, I have been disappointed lately when I’ve gone to sit down at the restaurant for dinner. Food is meh & the service matches.

We went expecting authentic Mexican food, but it was the most Americanized Mexican food that I have ever had. Do not go unless you like nacho cheese or shredded Kraft. I was very underwhelmed, will not be back.

Always have good food here. Fantastic margaritas. Very friendly waiter. He did a great job making sure everything was just the way we ordered. We have been here a couple of times. Lots of family history here! Probably the oldest family restaurant in the Atchison area. Good thing about this restaurant is they have two different kinds of cheese sauce! Good job crew. We will be back again.

We usually stop here for lunch when we’re in Atchison, Food was good, service was good, Really good Margaritas! However when we got our credit card bill, $2.04 was padded on our bill. I gave 18% tip, I guess they thought they needed 22%+. Hmm, not sure if I will come back.
