Absolutely amazing sushi! Super fresh, generous portions, and lots of fish exactly how it should be. Everything tasted incredible, especially the salmon rolls. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients.
The staff is also awesome very friendly, welcoming, and professional. Great service from start to finish.
One of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in New York. Highly recommend I’ll definitely be coming back!

The star of the set is undoubtedly the salmon sashimi, thick-cut and each slice impeccably fresh. This sashimi set feels complete and well-composed: fresh fish, good price, and satisfying portions. It’s an excellent choice for a midday sushi fix that leaves you full without feeling weighed down.

The sushi was absolutely amazing! I tried the Black Dragon Roll — crispy shrimp, tender eel, and creamy avocado — and every bite was pure joy. The flavors blended so perfectly that I’ll be dreaming about this roll for a long time! Highly recommend!

The small restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. Soups, salads, appetizers, noodles, entrees, sushi, sashimi, party trays, lunch bento boxes and beverages are available. They have several tables for dining in. I ordered the “D” party tray which consisted of a black dragon roll, two sakura rolls, two California rolls, two eel cucumber rolls and two fried breaded shrimp. The fried purple yam appetizer was different and tasted similar to a sweet potato. The food was very good and fresh. Friendly and helpful staff.

The storefront is crowded and nothing special but otherwise, this is easily the best sushi I’ve had in Brooklyn (and sushi has been my Friday night ritual for about six years now, so I’ve tried a lot of places). Everything is super fresh, never had one “fishy” bite, and the prices are super reasonable. I’ve only ordered basic rolls so far, but I feel like those are harder to make really good than the fancier ones covered in sauces—but they do a tuna or salmon roll so well, I can’t imagine their special rolls wouldn’t be worth the extra cash.

High food quality. I ordered different food for takeout several times and they never disappointed me. Chicken bento surprised me as the chicken is crispy after I brought it home. The server was very nice. The restaurant itself is a little small but I usually order takeout so it doesn’t affect me.

This is my new favorite spot! Was never a fan of the place before Look Dear Sushi but after reading all the amazing reviews I decided to check it out with my teen who is a very picky eater. The waiter was a saint, attentive, polite, and helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere was so chill and quiet, relaxing, and good vibes. The ramen was out of this world!! The chicken melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. The food was so amazing that even my teenager who normally is terrified of sushi was open to trying the shrimp roll and gave me the thumbs up. 10 out of 10. Can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.

I recently visited Look Deer Sushi in Brooklyn, and it quickly became one of my favorite hidden gems in the borough. This local gem is a true standout, easily beating out many overhyped spots in Manhattan when it comes to both quality and price—think premium, melt-in-your-mouth freshness without the wallet-draining bills. Tucked away on East 16th Street, this spot offers an unpretentious vibe with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients that shine through in every bite. The place is small and cozy, perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner, and the service was friendly and efficient—our order came out fast without feeling rushed.
I went for their sushi deluxe, which included a stunning assortment of nigiri that looked as good as it tasted. The standout was the lineup of four pieces: starting with a tender scallop nigiri drizzled in a rich eel sauce that added just the right sweetness; followed by a seared fatty tuna (otoro) with beautiful grill marks for a smoky depth; then a melt-in-your-mouth salmon topped with fresh green onions and a light glaze; and finishing with a vibrant red tuna accented by pickled radish for a crisp contrast. Each piece was perfectly balanced on vinegared rice, with that ideal fish-to-rice ratio. Paired with the classic pickled ginger and wasabi on the side, it was sushi perfection—fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable for the quality.
Don’t sleep on their signature rolls either; I tried a combo that mixed classics like spicy tuna with creative twists, all at reasonable prices that won’t break the bank. If you’re into omakase-style experiences without the Manhattan markup, this is your spot. Overall, 5 stars—I’ll be back soon!
