What’s on offer varies by the day , but the crowd doesn’t seem to. The parking lot was packed with plenty of cars spilling into the overflow lot . The drive through line was long , as was the serving line .
My wife had the salad , stewed squash , green beans and fried Chicken . I had country fried steak and gravy , rice and gravy and macaroni and cheese . Everything was great , the macaroni and cheese was good despite not being quite to my taste .
The people were friendly and helpful and there was a gentleman serenading us with a mean jazz saxophone.
If you’re from Gainesville , or nearby , you probably already know about this place – I’m late to the party – but if y’all ain’t from around here and are visiting and you like country cooking , it’s worth a visit .
The service was friendly and straightforward, even when a fair number of people had lined up ahead of me. The pace felt smooth — not rushed, but not slow either. It felt like they knew what they were doing, which made the experience comfortable from start to finish.
What stood out most was how much value the place gives: decent portions, a good variety, and that simple sense of “I got what I wanted.” You don’t walk out expecting gourmet flair, but you do walk out feeling full, content, and like you made the right call coming there.
If I’m honest: Longstreet feels perfect for when you want something simple, reliable, and unpretentious. It’s the kind of spot I’d go back to when I’m after a laid‑back meal that hits the comfort‑food spot — whether I’m alone, with friends, or just hungry and need something good without overthinking.
Their parking lot is always crowded and the drive through line backs up onto the street.
I would highly recommend trying if you are in the area. I enjoyed this unique experience, and it left me wanting to come back and try more of their food.
