Long Weekend

  3.9 – 247 reviews   • Western restaurant

Our restaurant is centered around a wood-fire grill, designed to capture the spirit of cooking over a crackling fire pit—just like the cowboys did out on the open range. This rustic yet refined approach brings an authentic sense of the West straight to your table. Our menu highlights a variety of wild game you’d expect to find in those wide-open landscapes, including rabbit, buffalo, and elk. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared to honor traditional flavors while presenting them in a more elevated, contemporary style. The result is a dining experience that celebrates hearty, wholesome food—bold in flavor, rooted in history, and surprisingly healthy.

Checked out Long Weekend during opening weekend and it’s exactly the kind of place Houston needs more of. It’s a bar/restaurant with a fantastic outdoor playground for kids, which means parents can actually sit down, have a drink or meal, and relax while the kids run around safely.

The whole setup is really well thought out, plenty of space, great atmosphere, and a place where families are genuinely welcome. Anyone with kids knows how rare it is to find somewhere you can grab a drink or bite without constantly managing restless kids at the table.

Also worth noting: it was opening weekend and the place was packed, so credit to the team for getting things up and running. These kinds of spots quickly become neighborhood staples.

And to the reviewer complaining about kids being there… the playground is literally the concept. If you don’t want to be around kids, maybe don’t go to a bar and restaurant designed for families.

We’ll definitely be back.

Just checked out long weekend and happy that houston finally has a great Texas themed spot for the kids and adults. Really appreciate how a lot of effort was placed in the kids area to let the adults enjoy.

Wait times have been great and the staff came out with a bang!

Make sure you grab a drink from Mitch the bartender and we had Jake as a server who was awesome as well.

Will be back for sure and probably on a weekly basis!

Glad we came to try this spot out! We sat at the bar and received amazing service from Justin. Great personality and recommendations. Everything we ordered was great but, Justin recommended the pork belly steak which was great! The restaurant itself is large and beautiful, I think this a great addition to the neighborhood.

Oh, what a delightful dining experience. Nothing pairs better with a meal than a soundtrack of unattended children screaming like it’s a competitive sport. The playground, which strongly resembles a liability lawsuit waiting to happen, seems to double as a free-range daycare while parents enjoy their meals in blissful denial. Meanwhile, guests get to enjoy bonus entertainment in the form of kids running around, yelling obscenities, and harassing anyone unlucky enough to walk by.

This was absolutely the worst experience I have EVER had with a resturaunt. I arrived with my family today and we waited for about an hour which considering it was a “Soft Opening,” understood the wait. But when we were seated we were placed not at a table but rather an outside couch and had to use a short coffee table for a table for 7 adults and 3 children to use. We waited another hour for a waiter/waitress to even come by to greet us, but no one ever came to even get our drink orders. This was even after going to the front and speaking to the ladies up front. It was so disorganized. I understand that there are going to be some issues going to happen with a soft opening, but this was absolutely unacceptable! Please do better!!! This experience was such a disappointment!

Headline: this place is amazing and a true gift to Houston families.

The whole story:
I’d give this 5 stars without hesitation!

We visited this weekend for opening and it was one of the most exciting restaurant openings I’ve seen in Houston in a long time. The turnout was massive. Families everywhere, a line out the door, kids on the playground, and at one point an epic storm rolled through. The crowd was so big the kitchen had to pause service for a bit to catch up on orders. I’m sure that wasn’t the plan, but somehow the place still absolutely shined.

We joined the waitlist online before arriving, which helped because it was packed when we got there. The team was very transparent about the situation. They shared that the wait would be about an hour and that the kitchen needed roughly 45 minutes to reset. Not exactly what people want to hear, but I appreciated the honesty and the effort to keep things moving during a true opening-weekend blitz.

And despite all of that chaos, this place is going to be something really special for Houston.

The space is fantastic. Huge, thoughtfully designed, and clearly built with families in mind. One of the best playground setups I’ve seen at a restaurant, games throughout, and step stools in the bathrooms so kids can reach the sinks. The details really stand out. The design is A+, the furniture and layout are beautiful, and even the bathrooms got compliments from our whole group thanks to the great soap and the fancy paper towels that somehow became a full conversation topic.

The food was great, even during what had to be one of the most intense service days imaginable. We ordered a spread: liquid gold queso, bacon-wrapped quail jalapeño poppers, wings, steak skewers, bread rolls with incredible butter, pizzas, and a cheeseburger. Everything was hot, flavorful, and worth it. We’re already excited to come back and try more of the menu.

And a special shoutout to Mitch behind the bar. Total MVP. He took great care of the adults but also made my daughter feel incredibly special when she shared that she had just lost a tooth. During the rush of the day, he took a moment to celebrate her and gave her a dollar for the tooth fairy fund. That kind of kindness says a lot.

Opening weekends are tough. Crowds are unpredictable, systems get tested, and everyone is learning in real time. But what we saw this weekend was great food, thoughtful design, and a team that genuinely cares.

Once they work out the early kinks, this is going to be one of the best spots in Houston. We can’t wait to come back.

The 3% “service charge” added to the bill and likely hidden from most customers when they pay kind of ruins the experience for me. Who thought that was a good idea?

Food was delicious, the drinks were good, and the place is really nice. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. They brought us other people’s orders about 4–5 times. We asked both our waiter and another staff member for salt, but it never arrived. My wife ordered a mimosa and we followed up with the waiter three times, but it never came. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic. Hopefully the service improves.
