We hadn’t been to LJS in quite sometime. The outside of the establishment is looking very run down. The inside was totally fine. We didn’t get chicken baskets with green beans and rice. The rice was absolutely delicious. The green beans had a smoky flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I always ask for extra crunchies.

The food is great, nice and fresh but they are kind of slow. Probably not best to go through the drive thru if you got 15 to 20 mins before work or somewhere to be. Basically its a good fast food sea food restaurant that you can come in and sit down and get a good meal, but the drive thru will mess up your order and take way too long to even make it remotely convenient.

The food tastes so salty. Nearly everything is deep fried. This location has no overhang on the building or the speaker, so if it’s raining you will get soaked. The workers are super nice here though.

We got the specials:
FISH, CHICKEN & SHRIMP PLATTER- 2PC FISH, 1PC CHICKEN, 3PC SHRIMP, 2 SIDES, 2 HUSHPUPPIES- we got cheese curds as one of the sides instead of fries (extra charge).
FISH & SHRIMP PLATTER- 2PC FISH, 6PC SHRIMP, 2 SIDES, 2 HUSHPUPPIES.
If you come late in the day (within 3 hrs of closing) you may not get hushpuppies- the batter takes time to proof and they only make a certain amount per day, so they tend to run out- just a heads up.
The coleslaw is bomb. Get it.
Every time we visit, the food is just as expected: crispy, deliciously fried and greasy, and the sides are great. I didn’t love the cheese curds tbh, so in future visits I probably won’t get those. The cheesecake is literally perfect- tastes great and is a much smaller serving that at Cheesecake Factory so 1) you don’t feel so absolutely stuffed and guilty after eating a whole piece and 2) it’s wayyyy cheaper .
The Starrrberry lemonade is pretty good. I recommend.
This is not a place to go for health. This is a place to go because you want fried food and you’re going to make that decision

We came in for lunch today and stood at the counter while the employees sat in a booth and looked at their phones. Finally we were able to get their attention and get them to get up and take our order. When the food was finally delivered to our table it looked like the portion size was for a small child. Very disappointed in the quality of service and food quality. This place used to be a great place to get lunch or dinner and now it’s totally different. For the price of the food at this establishment there really needs to be an improvement. Surprised they are still open because it seems they really don’t care.

Took my elderly father out to LJS, since its been a long time since we’ve been. Service was incredible. Food was delicious and greasy. Shout out to Sherry H, She made sure we were good and checked on us, and everyone around us too. If Sherry is here, I’ll be back with or without my Dad. Haha.

Company sucks. Service sucks and can’t even file a complaint with headquarters because they can’t even get the phone number and answering service to work right. Went to the restaurant in Grand Rapids Michigan store 70153 location 2542 Alpine Ave NW, Walker MI 49504. They messed up my order. Called them act like they didn’t care after saying up and down that everything was in the box. I said no it’s not. Was pissing me off that they kept saying the same thing. They don’t care. Won’t be getting my business anymore. I even tried to apologize for getting an attitude but like I said they don’t care. I hope this companies ethics change for the good or they will be going bankrupt and out of business in the future. I’m also reporting this experience to the Better Business Bureau. If I have to I’ll even go to the News and make this national. As of now nobody go to the Alpine location in Kent county Michigan.

The staff is mopey and you can absolutely tell they don’t want to be there, hate the job, act like the toppings (very sparse, barely there) come out of their pay. I’ve tried it twice after many years of not going and I won’t be back. There’s good reason that store is always dead. It’s almost like they are running people off so they don’t have to work. Never again. Sad too because I really love fish tacos, just not a greasy piece of fish rolled up in a tortilla with two shreds of cabbage. Pathetic.

Great tastey fish. Variety quantity affordable plates. Service is great always available. Plenty of seating area with napkins, ketchup and other condiments. I’m glad the Long John Silvers on Alpine reopened I love this place.
