Something rare a new [2025] stand alone LJS. I missed our local LJS when it closed ~15 years ago. Like many I took my business to other chains. I am very happy to see and experience this new store.
My experience on my first visit was good over all. The food was fresh and service was excellent. There was some confusion with my modified order and the new staff seemed less familiar with LJS’s substitutions than I, a long term customer.
As I sat enjoying my dinner I spoke with another long time LJS customer picking up a order for his family; he was carefully checking his large order, mentioning that 3 out of 7 orders he had gotten since they opened at this location had small errors, but over all he was very pleased. Both of us had our concerns address by the cook as the manager on duty was absent, hidden in the office.
Any new restaurant has issues on opening. I was satisfied as was the other customer I spoke with. My fish was abit chewy rather than flaky likely slightly over done. The hushpuppies were two times LJS’s normal size, likely using wrong sized scoop.
The building is new. The dining room and service area is clean and shiny. Unfortunately the restroom stunk of bad plumbing or poor ventilation; this needs to be addresses as it is not normal in a new building.
I will eat here again and I expect the kinks i experienced will disappear as the staff gains experience.
I have visited twice more now and the staff was nice and friendly and the food very good.

It was my first time trying this out and it was so satisfying. Everything except the rice was exceptionally tasty and good. The rice was hard and dry, but we loved the service.

Visited this location on February 4, 2026, you walk in the store is like a sauna. The heat is so oppressive. You don’t want to eat.
When your food comes, you realize that it wasn’t really dropped fresh or recently cooked the fish Skin is hard as a rock as you see, I couldn’t eat it and had to rip it apart and set it aside to find the white meat which was limited.
It’s dark fish skin which looks like the oil needed to be changed out last month and most likely the owner has no clue what is going on here daily.
Very disappointed today’s lunch was not up to speed at any capacity.

Drive thru. The food was good however I ordered two three piece meals and was missing fish. The fish was fresh, crispy and good. Macaroni and cheese was good- cheesy and creamy. Please don’t pack the coke slaw with the hot food. Hot coke slaw is not good and the coke slaw is really good when cold. Hush puppies were crisp, tasty.

Somehow the chicken was cold and the coleslaw was warm, I’m not even sure how you mess that up. The fries were way too over salted and also cold. The chicken was so cold and chewy it was inedible, the order was completely wrong even after repeating it over 3 times. Staff was friendly but slow took 15 minutes from order placement to receive food. This kind of food could genuinely make someone sick if they ate it, and after trying to call rester-aunt numerous times all I got was no answer.

Wow! Nice new beautiful restaurant, friendly employees, and EXCELLENT food. I came on opening day (Monday, June 30, 2025) and although the restaurant was very busy, the employees were able to get customers through the drive-thru VERY quickly. I purchased the 12 piece family meal with a mixture of fish, chicken, waffle fries, green beans, and coleslaw. The food tasted wonderful and it was just as I remember. Keep up the good work Long John’s Fern Creek and welcome back!!

Placed my order in drive thru and spent the next 30 minutes waiting, exceedingly slow in getting the food out to the customers. Then gave me the wrong drink ( root beer ) really? After all this 2 hrs later gastrointestinal issues.

Julia, at the drive-thru it’s fantastic! She makes me want to go there again. Unfortunately, the rest of it is not so great. I ask for extra tartar sauce, and I didn’t get even enough for one piece of fish. Much less too. The pieces of fish seem to be smaller and there were no crispies in the box at all. I understand you can now pay for order of them! I was so disappointed!
