Excellent food and service. The blackened rockfish was delicious. The collared greens were also amazing. The crawfish and shrimp etouffee was excellent. We also had the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer which was also excellent. Great casual atmosphere and the service was excellent. Plus they had a gluten free cornbread that was very good. Huge portions and the prices were reasonable for what you get. We were visiting from out of town and this is a great place for southern cuisine. Frankly, the food here was better than what we had in New Orleans a few months ago.

I ordered the Rockefeller oysters those were good. I also ordered the blackened red fish with collard greens and dirty rice. The rice was cooked to perfection and had a great flavor to it and it was nice and moist. The collard greens were really good but they were a little overcooked. The fish was horrible, I know it’s supposed to be blackened but it was burnt & dry and it didn’t have any taste or seasoning at all. The fish was supposed to be topped with crab meat I had about two little pieces of crab meat sitting on top of my fish. My cousin ordered the exact same thing that night and her fish was loaded with crab meat on top. Our waitress was really nice and the service was great, Our food did not take long to come out at all. I don’t think I would return to this location I would try the Park Circle location and I would try something different.

We ordered to go, as it opened at 4pm and the kids were already exhausted. Never really had authentic southern food. Jambalaya was good. Really enjoyed the po boy sandwhich. Good for us who wanted a seafood only meal because we have a strict halal diet. They make it to order so it was fresh. And filled our vegetarian need. The lady was so nice to my toddler even gave crayons and a necklace. Solid meal.

It’s ok misses some on the Cajun flavor. The cornbread was something that could be a dish on its own. Coffee press and bead pudding and cornbread unfortunately were the best part

This was my first visit to LoLA. There were five of us and we were pleasantly rewarded with a wonderful evening. When we arrived at six the bar was packed for happy hour and the dining area was humming. The atmosphere is adult and nice casual. Fortunately we’d made a reservation, which I highly recommend.

There is an extensive drinks menu, although happy hour ends at 6pm, so we missed any special deals on that. We started with Strawberry Mojitos, which were yummy, if a little on the sweet side. We passed on apps and went straight to the main course. There is a fairly good variety of choices on the menu from authentic New Orleans jambalayas and gumbos, to creative Cajun/Italian mashups, to burgers and po’ boys.

I had the Cajun Fettuccini Alfredo – Bourbon Street, which has shrimp, crayfish and andouille sausage, I ordered the Cajun spice on the side, which was a smart move for me because the spice blend has a kick! It was delicious and filling. I took half of it home.

One of the highlights of the meal was our server, Andrew, who was attentive and personable. And that made up for the dinner salad that arrived without the chicken that was ordered with it, and the runners that auctioned off our dinners like we were at a diner, not a restaurant. Another plus was that all the staff, hostess, servers, bartenders, runners were engaged and cheerful, a pleasant contrast to some restaurants where servers seem distracted or more interested in their cell phones than taking care of business.

By the time we left, around 7:30 pm, the bar area had emptied out, but there was a good crowd on the wait list mingling on the patio at the entrance.

We had the LoLa style Oysters as a starter. Then had shrimp and grits and the shrimp and sausage Mac n cheese. An amazing meal. Our 1st meal in Charleston and they set the bar high going forward.

So glad to finally get some REAL oysters while in Charleston, they were GREAT. Juicy, plump, and no skinny-minnies. The house salad was plenty for 95 yr old mom, and she had one shrimp and one oyster from my platter. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, had a crisp well doneness w/out being over cooked. Our server was fabulous – attentive, friendly, and said he was still in high school! He seemed well seasoned. Can’t wait to come back!

Great little Gem! However, it’s not a secret that’s for sure!! We walked up for seating and the place was packed. Mt. Pleasent location. Fried Flounder cooked and battered to perfection. Boudin Balls, oh have mercy, simply delicious. First visit to Charleston and Mount Pleasent/Patriots Point/Sullivans Island in over a decade for me, and a first for my child who enjoyed the grilled cheese. We will certainly make LoLa’s a stop for sure.

Great find for us while passing through. We had the shrimp and grits and the shrimp basket. But meals were very good. Service was also very good as well. We’ll worth the stop.
