Absolutely fantastic!! The food here is incredible. I love the fusion of flavors. I ordered the chicken tinga and chicken shawarma tacos and my mind was blown. I really appreciated that they grill the tacos so they are crispy. They were both delicious however the chicken tinga was my favorite. The tacos are a good size and $5 per taco so pretty affordable. They also have burritos (which they grill too) that were out out of this world. And a pretty decent selection of desserts. Will definitely be back!

I had high hopes for Loco Taco based on the reviews I read, expecting a traditional Mexican experience, but the food turned out to be more of a fusion with Indian or Middle Eastern flavors. It was definitely different from what I anticipated.

Some of the items I ordered did not arrive, which was a bit disappointing. For the tacos that did arrive, my husband’s lamb taco got mixed in with the others, making it hard to tell which was which. The flavors were quite strong for me, so I was unable to eat my tacos, though my husband really enjoyed the fusion and thought his meal was interesting. On a positive note, their potatoes were quite good.

Overall, it may not be traditional Mexican food, but if you enjoy creative flavor combinations, it could be worth a try. I personally would not order again, but I can see why some people might enjoy it.

Update Review:
*****I appreciate the owner’s response and would like to clarify a few points.

First, three of the items I ordered never arrived. That alone impacts my rating, as part of any dining experience—especially takeout—is receiving everything you paid for. I had to call in to request a refund, and had I not done so, it seemed no one would have realized the mistake.

Second, the tacos were all placed together in the same box, and my husband’s lamb taco got mixed in with the others, making it difficult to tell which was which. Presentation and organization are important, especially when different proteins and seasonings are involved.

As for the flavors, I now understand this is a fusion taqueria, but my review was based on my personal experience and expectations at the time of ordering. The website does mention fusion, but it was still quite different from what I expected based on the photos and reviews I read.

While my husband enjoyed his meal, I personally found the flavors too strong for my taste. I did, however, enjoy the potatoes.

My intention is not to harm the business but to share an honest and balanced account of my experience. I hope this feedback is received in that spirit.

I am completely blown away by this restaurant and the quality of the tacos I just had the pleasure of eating. Not only were they PACKED with their ingredients, but the flavor profiles of each unique taco creation was simply unmatched. I personally had the Arabes, Tikka Masala, and Greek tacos, and each one was full of their respective meats and toppings. I really love finding new and interesting dishes whenever I go out to eat, and this shop for sure expanded on what the normal limitations are that tacos usually fall into. I also would like to mention that the person working there was fantastic, and prepared these tacos to their highest potential for a pick up order that was 20 minutes to close. Very appreciative for that, as is my stomach I am sadly just visiting this area, but will absolutely be returning at least once before I leave!!

Loco Taco offers a really cool fusion of Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors with their burritos, tacos, empanadas, and fajitas. I’m well versed in taco/Mexican restaurants and this place has moved to the top of my list. Ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The kicker is that the tacos are only 5$ but you get bigger portions than any greater Portland taco spot I’ve been to that run 6-8$. Seating is somewhat limited indoors to a few tables but they do have picnic tables outside and offer takeout which you can call in or order online (pictured in my review).

Love this place. One of the only places in Portland you can get a burrito for a reasonable price. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and portions are usually big

I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often, the food is incredible and so fresh, the customer service is top notch, and prices are very reasonable! I got a chicken shawarma taco & 2 pulled beef tacos, SOOO GOOD and as you can see they didn’t skimp on the filling. 10/10, highly recommend this place

Great spot on Forest Ave! The tacos are creative, fresh, and full of flavor — you can tell a lot of thought goes into the menu. Portions are generous, ingredients taste high quality, and everything we tried was delicious. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe make it even better. Definitely a place worth coming back to, whether you want something classic or a little different. Highly recommend!

I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing all these 5 star reviews (a lot are left by people who have only reviewed one place before, two at the most which seems a little suspicious).

I understand this is a fusion restaurant but the menu was confusing until the person at the counter explained it to us, and the couple who came in after us stared in confusion for quite some time before someone came out of the kitchen to help.

My veggie taco was just okay. The slaw was good but for the long list of veggies supposedly included, most were hard to discern – a couple slivers of zucchini, one small bit of broccoli, no mushrooms that I could pick out, and I don’t remember what else it was supposed to have but it didn’t end up on my taco.

My fish taco was a few different temperatures, warm and cool, but mostly cold to near frozen when it definitely should have been hot. Didn’t feel safe to eat and I do take responsibility for not saying something in the moment.

The space itself needs some love. There are two tables that are next to a bathroom and storage area. The restaurant was very cold inside. The people who came in after us went out to their vehicle to get an extra layer to wear. I got the last fork out of an open box of plastic utensils on top of the trash can and there were four empty napkin dispensers next to the trash so I grabbed a couple paper towels from a roll I spotted on one of the counters.

Overall I have to say I would not return and truly don’t understand (or trust) all the 5-star glowing reviews.
