Super cool to go to a restaurant that you watched get remodeled on TV! Nice place with a family atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food wasn’t bad, but it was definitely Tourist pricing (it’s Galveston after all.). The Local (or queso dog) was really good the fries are hand cut potatoes and are nicely satisfying. They even have some Local Dog stickers!
For Galveston the place had good parking!?! Even a handicap spot by the doors. Large indoor sitting area with long picnic tables, but don’t worry there were regular chairs in some spots for those of us who can’t navigate a bench. There is a good sized patio area with just as much seating as the inside. The bathrooms were clean and stocked.
Cute little play area outside the door complete with hop scotch grid and bike rack. No Michael or Ashly there the day we went.

Friendly staff and owners! Micheal owner stopped by table to see you were doing good! We even got our pic with him! Leslie made sure we were doing ok and checked on us to see if we needed anything at our table, she made us feel welcomed and at home❤️ Chili dog was Amazing! French fries were fresh with order! Great place to grab a hotdog! Nice and clean inside and great atmosphere! When in area again I will be back!

Another great meal at Local Dogs. This time we tried the strawberry field salad with chicken, the chicken sliders, the hot and sweet pickles along with a custom dog and fries! The food was delicious! The service was great! And their draft beer was really fresh and on point! Both times we have seen Michael… it’s like a little celebrity sighting along with a great meal! Always here to support local business!

First visit and it was amazing! Got to meet the owner (Micheal)! Really nice guy, he was making balloon animals and such for the kids. Food was so good!!! Literally the best homemade fries I have ever had! Could not recommend them more, simply amazing. Also they have sugar straws which are really unique.

Every single visit is consistently amazing — fresh, hot, and always full of flavor. The staff is great, the playlist is on point, and the vibe is genuinely fun for everyone. When we come to the Island, this is an absolute must-stop every time. Local Dogs delivers, every time! We also love how it has gluten free buns and can feed our whole family! If you’re questioning if you should get the banana pudding that answer is YES!

First time here. Second time for him. The place is really clean and fresh looking. I had the Chicago veggie dog and he had the chili beef dog. My dog was delicious. They even toast the buns. We also shared the devilled eggs. Love the way they fix them with jam and bacon toppings. Makes for a great sweet/salty flavour. Shout out to Nicole for exceptionally friendly and efficient service.

Local Dogs – A Great Galveston Stop!
Just got back from Galveston after getting some awesome drone footage of the Carnival Dream leaving port and needed a bite before hitting the road back to Houston. Checked Yelp and Local Dogs was high on the list, so I stopped in around 5 PM. I can see why it’s so well-rated—it’s a solid spot!
The Good Stuff (The “Pros”)
* The staff was incredibly friendly, making for a very welcoming experience.
* The entire restaurant was spotlessly clean, and I appreciated the open kitchen concept—you can tell they take pride in their space.
* My food came out super fast! I’m not sure if that’s standard, but it wasn’t busy when I was there.
* The main event, the hot dog, was genuinely tasty. I got the Coney Islander (chili, onions, cheese, and mustard). It hit the spot!
* A small but important detail: the fountain drink ice is fantastic! It’s like a smaller, chewable nugget/pebble ice. A+ for that.
* They even have free stickers (grabbed a couple for my drone case)

Room for Improvement (The “Cons”)
* The biggest letdown was the fries. They were a bit limp and definitely needed to be double-fried for some much-needed crispiness.
* The sugar-free drink options are very limited—only Pepsi Zero and iced tea. Would love to see a few more zero-sugar choices.
Overall
Despite the fries, I really enjoyed my stop at Local Dogs. The friendly service, clean environment, and tasty dog make it a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal in Galveston. I’d recommend checking it out.

It’s easy to look at the menu before you visit Local Dogs and think “$8 for a hot dog?!” Trust me it’s worth it. From the moment you walk in you can understand the prices. You’re paying a premium price for a premium experience. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is well lit and clean. Even the bathrooms are 10/10. And then there’s the food. We ordered an NYC and a Coney Islander. As someone who’s from the northeast it’s refreshing to finally find a hot dog establishment that knows how to load up a dog with toppings. They’re not rationing that’s for sure. This is by far the best hot dog place on the island, maybe even the best in South-east Texas. We will be back for sure!

Visited Local Dogs in Galveston this weekend with my family, and we were blown away by this new gem! This small business, only open a few weeks, is fresh, bright, and spotlessly clean. Specializing in gourmet hot dogs, they absolutely deliver on flavor. My daughter loved the Local Dog, a chili cheese dog packed with taste. My wife enjoyed the Chicago, and I had the Pizza Dog, which was a standout—marinara, mozzarella, and a drizzle of hot honey that took it to the next level. The gourmet brioche-style grilled buns and high-quality hot dogs elevate the experience, and the fresh-cut fries were delicious. The restaurant offers a nice outdoor space and cozy indoor seating, so you can choose what suits you. Highly recommend giving Local Dogs a try to support this fantastic new spot in Galveston!

Stopped Sunday afternoon on our home from Galveston. We went by the Cordray drugstore for an ice cream treat first (it was great). We walked in & it was busy. No other than Michael Cordray was there doing some balloon dogs for some kids. We enjoy their show “Restoring Galveston” & it was kinda cool seeing him working there.
We had the sliders with fries & a drink. They were very good. We had hot dogs a couple weeks ago when we did a day trip to Galveston & they were very good also.
The place has great service & is very clean.
