Husband got a Tiktok about this place and asked if I wanted to go eat for lunch and when I tell you I haven’t been this excited about food in a long time I mean it! I had NO idea we had an L&L in Austin!! My family is from Hawaii and every time we go back we get all the local food and L&L was one of my favorite places…and one of my favorite sides to get with a lunch plate is Mac salad..I got the half and half, katsu and Kalua pork, husband got the mixed BBQ plate. When the guy (I have a hunch he’s the owner, and also from HI) said it comes with two scoops of rice and Mac salad I immediately squealed “Mac salad!!!” absolutely the BEST decision we made to drive down for Leander and absolutely worth the drive and price – everything made me feel happy inside and had me feeling a little closer to home as we haven’t been back since 2019. The katsu was perfection, absolutely crispy on the outside and juicy chicken on the inside, and the Kalua Pork absolutely juicy, perfectly salted, and tender. Rice was the delicious sticky rice I prefer over other rice types, and the Mac salad was ABSOLUTE the teriyaki chicken was so flavorful, and juicy on the inside, and the kalbi ribs were so ono and anything on the menu you order , honestly you can’t go wrong!
You get GREAT portions too, just like how a mix plate back home has generous portions of meat choices, two scoops rice and scoop of Mac salad. Shared with my family group chat, and we’ll be back to take some home with us to North Texas for Christmas this week as well as be back in the future now that I know we have our own L&L here!!

The atmosphere is wonderful as well, I enjoyed the Hawaiian music station that was playing, and the owner (?) is incredibly friendly, kind, and makes the best damn Hawaiian food around!! If you have a chance to stop by for some ono Hawaiian food, you absolutely should no matter how far north or south in the Austin area!! 100/10!!

I’ve been here a few times now and it never disappoints. This time I grabbed the Tuesday special – the BBQ chicken bowl – and it hit the spot. The chicken was grilled perfectly, tender with great flavor, paired with fluffy white rice and a good mix of veggies. Comes with a drink too, which is a nice touch.

The service is always friendly and quick, and the food stays consistently great every time I visit. Definitely one of my favorites spots when I’m in south austin

I lived on Oahu for many years and love L&L, especially the chicken katsu. I was truly disappointed in it here in S. Austin. It was over fried. In Hawaii the chicken is tender and delicious, here it was so crunchy and the chicken pieces inside the breading were so small, that I didn’t eat the entire meal. Next time I go to L&L it will be in Honolulu.

11/29/25 6:38pm. We have been coming here for a while and have to say this was the worst customer experience we have had. We walked in and the gentleman at the counter said nothing. For a good 2 minutes he just kept typing in the POS system. The cook in the back in a dirty sweatshirt not doing much either. Finally I asked if we should come back a other time. Under his breath he mumbled “I be with you in a minute.” After another minute or two he mumbled again without ever looking up, “what can I get you?” We ordered and our little one wanted a smoothie. “That machine is dirty” he said. Oh lovely. Hopefully you ha e cleaned everything else. We sat down and waited for our food. And watched. The cashier took a few more orders the proceeded to teh back with out ever washing g his hands to begin to prep food. Lovely. Won’t be coming back for a while.

This place “Broke da mouth”! My family agrees that the Loco Moco (w/2 beef patties, eggs, gravy, mac salad & rice), the Chicken Katsu and BBQ Beef plates were fantastic… honestly better than the same L&Ls on Oahu. Granted that we were hungry, but the amount of food on each plate, the quality and taste absolutely did not disappoint! Each of us (family of 4 w/2 teenage boys) were satisfied & full! Definitely coming back whenever we want a taste of the Islands!

Wow. Just wow. We have been driving past this place for years but had never tried it. We ordered a bunch of things, maybe 5 different dishes. The star of the night was the lumpia, but the pork chop and pork riblets were incredible as well. The ramen was great. The pulled pork was so-so. The musing were interesting.

All in all, we were all pleasantly surprised and will come back again.

Not a great place to dine in, however.

Just OK Hawaiian food. (I lived in HI for 3 years and gave had L&L in HI. )

Sorry, the portions were small for the price. Was expecting Hawaiian sized portions.

Had BBQ plate. Short ribs were very thinly sliced.

Food tasted OK, just not spectacular.

May try other items to see if they just had a bad day.

The lumpia was on par for what it is, good. My gf and I both got a musubi, which is similar to a sushi roll, rice and your choice of protein wrapped in seaweed. I got the spam one and really liked it, had a good flavor. My gf liked hers which was the chicken katsu musubi, had a very good crispy chicken crunch.
I got the loco moco and it was so goooood. Basically a hamburger steak with gravy over a bed of white rice, served with macaroni salad. I may go back weekly for this.
My gf got the grilled chicken plate which she liked, I thought the chicken was okay.
Will definitely be back.

Took it to-go, I will say the dining area was kind of small. But I’d still eat there cuz the food is so good .
