Fast and easy service, even when busy. When I visited, almost all tables were taken, so I expected to have to wait at most 20 minutes before a waiter/waitress stopped by the table. It was almost instant from the moment I sat down. The waitress was super fast to put the order in and bring the drinks I ordered to the table (water with lemon and coffee). The food was also prepped and brought to the table really fast. I ordered chicken fried steak, over easy eggs, hash browns, and toast; the food tasted fantastic, and I both wanted to savor and wolf it down. The waitress was very attentive and visited the table regularly for refills.

Excellent food and service! Was in town on a trip this weekend and stopped in for supper. Nice clean establishment with a menu, food and service that works. My country fried steak was made and presented in a great way. Everything was tasty and seasoned well, even the sweet tea.
Food and service like this should be available at every “meat and two” place across the country. Some “grandma cooked” quality food. No fancy frills, just down home cooking and great service.
Our server, Nicole was awesome and attended to us without fail.
Just a heads up, they charge you 0.99 for a cup of A1 Steak Sauce for your country fried or chicken fried steak. Apparently ketchup is free and unlimited. Three stars for charing 0.99 for something that cost then less than 0.05 that they buy in bulk.

I had a very disappointing experience at Lizard Thickets. When I first got the beef soup, it wasn’t warm at all—it was completely cold. I brought it back, and they reheated it in the microwave. After I told the manager it still wasn’t hot enough, he gave me another bowl of soup. Unfortunately, as I started eating it, the soup tasted off and the ingredients were hard, like the beans and other items had been sitting in the refrigerator for a long time.
To make things worse, my chicken was also cold. Overall, the food quality was unacceptable. Even the cornbread was nasty. I’ve had enough of Lizard Thickets, and I won’t be eating there.

This was our second visit to this establishment. We called a dear friend as we were passing through on our way to Mertyl Beach from San Antonio who said they were on the way so we decided to join them. The food was delicious and the portions were plentiful. And, even the patrons were kind and engaging. That’s my kind of place.

Great atmosphere family friendly. It’s a great location for large groups and private rooms. I typically go here at least once a week for breakfast. They have a large menu option. To bad breakfast isn’t served all day. It’s never to late for biscuits and gravy lol.

5star experience without the 5star price. My favorite is the fried pork chop with 2 sides, corn bread muffins and sweet tea. Variety of food options to select. All delicious.

As usual, the food was good. However, service was poor. Our server, Jupiter, didn’t ask us what we wanted to drink when she greeted us. When she came back to take our order (10 minutes later) we had to request our drinks. When I had finished my coffee, I set my cup at the edge of the table as I always do to let the server know I am ready for a refill. As the cup sat there, two other servers walked by and Jupiter served the table next us (who happened to be seated after my wife and I) and did not ask if we needed anything. At this point we are approaching the 25 minute mark since being seated. Finally, Jupiter came to the table and apologized for the wait and said they were working on it. As she turned, my wife had to ask her if I could get a refill on the coffee. In the end the food was hot and delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. I have never had to wait 30-plus minutes at Lizard’s Thicket for food when not busy. A server earns their money by being prompt, cheerful, and giving attention to detail, and that just wasn’t the case today. I don’t write this as an angry customer but I do hope Jupiter reads this and takes it to heart.

If you’re southern folk and you want a hearty meal, this is the place to go. From mashed taters and gravy to cornbread, they have what you need if you want a homey meal. The staff is very kind and there is plenty of space if you want a family function.

This was my first time going to this location. I called to order my food before going. The woman was very nice. I ordered fried chicken, rice and gravy, cornbread dressing and macaroni and cheese. She advised me it would be about 10 minutes when it would be ready. I arrived within 8 min. She greeted me and my food was already ready. The food was really good. It was fresh and didn’t taste like it was sitting for hours. Fresh and full of flavor. The utensils and sauces that i would possibly won’t were already placed in the bag. This service was superior. I cannot wait to go back and order again. The service i received will inspire me to continue choosing this location over others.
