Great place for southern home-style food. I got some fried chicken and an assortment of vegetable sides. My meal came with corn bread, and I got some hot tea as my drink. There were several different meat choices, and a wide variety of veggie choices. If you wanted extra, it was really cheap. I got an extra helping of chicken for around $5 and an extra side of veggies for around $3. For my veggies, I got the mashed potatoes, fresh collard, fried mixed veggies, and green beans. The chicken was fantastic, with crispy skin and juicy meat. The collard was the only side that I didn’t really care for, but that was more the vegetable itself rather than the quality, I think. All in all, a pleasant experience!

My first time eating at this restaurant. I was not disappointed. Quick service. Good food. The fried flounder, collards, and corn bread were delicious. The candied yams were only OK because they look and taste like canned yams from the grocery store. My husband loved the pot roast…flavorful and tender.

I was attending my nephew’s Basic Army Training graduation. We went out for lunch and we chose this quaint place and because of the name too. It was cozy and the service was really good and fast. And very friendly staff They make you feel welcome which makes our dining experience enjoyable. I would recommend it if you like the homey atmosphere

It was the early afternoon on a Sunday, and my family had just finished a short hike in Congaree National Park. It had turned 1:00 p.m., and we were ready for lunch, but quickly discovered that most restaurants in the area were closed. After a quick Google search for “restaurants open near me,” Lizard’s Thicket randomly appeared in our search results, and we quickly decided it was the place to go. Upon entry into the restaurant, the staff immediately accommodated our party of 10, and upon being seated, Nelly appeared to take our drink order. Nelly was the right combination of genuineness, sass, and sarcasm. Nelly was an incredible server. Nelly truly cared about making sure we had a good experience, and her attentiveness was on par with any server in a five star Michelin restaurant. I ordered the chicken fried steak, with sides of collards, pickled beets, and squash casserole. The chicken fried steak was tender, and the squash casserole had a cheesiness to it that made it irresistible. The food was tasty, with a down-home quality that I might find at a summer family reunion. As I was required as a child, I cleaned my plate. If anyone wants some good southern cooking, go to Lizard’s Thicket Restaurant. And, make sure you ask for Nelly, because she was the best!

We go here when we want food that tastes like we cook it at home. We stopped by after a game and they were not too busy. Food was excellent. The gravy was very good. Service was fast and staff was very nice.

Visited for lunch with a party of 7 on a weekend. Seating area is large and we did not have to wait for a spacious table. The menu has many comfort favorites. I enjoyed the cornbread, fried okra, carrot & raisin salad, grilled veggies, and fried chicken. Prices were very reasonable. Emily, our server was kind and attentive. Not sure why the Lizards Thicket has so many chicken decorations but it makes for a good conversation! Try this place.

The service today was slow. Others were served drinks and ther orders were taken befor our waiter Justin came over. Not busy at all inside. Pork chop and chicken was crispy and hot. Good hot cornbread. But hard Cabbage. Don’t get it . Hard core pieces. They can jut cut the cabbage finely and solve the problem

My aunt brought my kids and me here for breakfast while visiting and I must say it was better than expected. We loved the whole meal. The portions are huge. But they have the small plate option if you don’t eat a lot.

We were sad when the Beltline location closed. Happily, the Garners Ferry location is great! Friendly staff, great food, but a bit more of a drive than we’re used to. Last night, the mac & cheese was not up to par but it’s usually really good.
