I have been a regular customer of the Garners Ferry location for over 20 years, recently there has been a positive change in management. Without naming names, the new night time manager is slowly but surely turning things around at this location. If you have not given this location a try, do so. You won’t be disappointed. The food is always great,the dining room, recently has been the best I have seen it in a very long time. The waitresses and staff are always very accommodating. Have a conversation with the new night manager. He may look mean but he’s a very attentive manager. Have a meal, bring the family, you will not be disappointed.

Placed an order to go as I was passing through back to Greenville, my order wasn’t quite what I was expecting, however the manager Ron, immediately took my order to the back and made it right. He apologized for the lack of attention but made no excuses, just expressed his gratitude in choosing Lizards Thicket as the place to grab my meal. Even promised that they would be better next time, kinda made my day. I’m not much for reviews but I actually felt that he and his staff there cared. The meatloaf was delicious and the service was fantastic. Thank you Mr. Ron. Keep up the good work.

I don’t come here often but i definitely will start more. the food is always on point and good, the bathrooms are kept pretty clean and food doesn’t take too long too come out. Prices aren’t bad either especially for all you get. All of the employees I talked too were also really amazing, wish I got names of them.

I’m not from here but came to visit Congaree National Park for 4 days. I ate at Lizard Thickets last night and it was fantastic. For 15.00 I got a large salmon patty, potato salad, cabbage and black eyed peas and a roll. It always all delicious. The salmon was great! I had my pups with me so I went thru the drive thru. The guy running the drive thru may have been the manager and was super friendly and the food was ready fast! Im gonna eat there at least one more time before we head home! I wish we had one of these back home in Hickory NC!

I have been wanting to come here for a while since we visit Columbia with relative frequency, and I know it is a local chain. This place has a lot of southern-style dishes, and they even say so in their menu in the way that they cook with pork in their vegetables so some of their sides are not vegetarian. I appreciate any place that calls mac and cheese a vegetable as opposed to a side! I got the one meat and two vegetables plate, which was $10. The meal comes with cornbread or rolls, but I was with two others so we got a mix of both. I’m not a huge cornbread fan, so I didn’t try any, but the rolls were good with butter. For my meal, I chose the chicken fried steak as my meat and the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and macaroni and cheese as my vegetables. Our server was Eliana, who was very attentive and nice! The food came out within 10 minutes. The portions were great for $10, and the food was savory and tasted great. I really liked the chicken fried steak, and the white gravy on top was nice. The mashed potatoes with the brown gravy were flavorful and savory. The macaroni and cheese had a good consistency. All in all, I really enjoyed this dinner. The price was really good for a dinner- and the taste and service were great too!

My son and I stopped for lunch. Our server was prompt in getting our drinks and taking our orders and she was knowledgeable a out the menu. I had a hamburger steak with gravy,fries and gravy, creamed corn and green beans it was all very tasty, but the green beans were the flat type and not my favorite, but they are still pretty good. Jacob had a Country Fried Steak with corn bread stuffing and creamed corn. He also said it was all very tasty. The serve an appetizer of 2 each little cornbread cakes which were buttery and delicious. I will go back again to try some of their other offerings which are all listed on a big board on each wall

The service today was slow. Others were served drinks and ther orders were taken befor our waiter Justin came over. Not busy at all inside. Pork chop and chicken was crispy and hot. Good hot cornbread. But hard Cabbage. Don’t get it . Hard core pieces. They can jut cut the cabbage finely and solve the problem
