Ordering entries, main course and dessert we got away with roughly 25 € each. We might come back
They definitely tone down on spices to suit the local taste buds.
The service was not too friendly even though we were the only customers there.
They didn’t accept my credit card, even though it’s clearly stated on the door that they do.
I should’ve known better when the first thing I noticed when I entered the place was that it reeked of fish and urine.
They also don’t take Amex despite having it plastered on their doors.
I don’t typically write negative reviews, but my experience at this Thai restaurant in Florence was both frustrating and alarming. When we were served our meals, I was taken aback to learn from the waitress that the food had been prepared hours earlier— five hours prior to our arrival!
When I expressed my concerns and asked to have my chicken curry re-prepared without the overcooked eggplants due to allergies (two people in my group have food allergies), the manager initially denied that the food was pre-cooked. However, when pressed further, he admitted that everything was made at lunchtime to be reheated later. His excuse? “Cooking these types of food takes four hours,” which is simply untrue. It takes literally 20 minutes to prepare and cook a Thai curry!
The audacity to lie about their food preparation was shocking. It became clear why they refused to accommodate our requests—nothing was being made fresh. This practice not only raises serious concerns about food safety, especially for those with dietary restrictions, but is also unacceptable in any dining establishment. Serving food that has been sitting for hours, potentially without proper temperature control, is not just poor practice; it’s dangerous.
To make matters worse, the dishes were excessively fatty and oily, lacking the freshness and balance one expects from authentic Thai cuisine. Everything tasted heavy and overly greasy—nothing like a freshly prepared meal.
I urge potential diners to be cautious. Food safety, responsiveness to allergies, and freshness are fundamental aspects of good hospitality, and this restaurant sadly failed on all fronts.
