Get your butt in here now.
This is some of the most wholesome, epic, elevated food I’ve had in so long. The Sweet Dreams drink is the best mule I’ve ever had, and the risotto under the lamb shank left me speechless. Flavorful steaks and attentive waiters. 72 out of 5 stars. Can’t believe this place wasnt packed.

Edit: if you pass on $10 passion fruit creme brulee, you’re an idiot.

Edit edit: that $200 meal was better than some of our $400 meals on the mainland.

To start off, a cockroach next to our booth against the wall got smushed by a napkin. The place seemed clean other than that. Idk why but that night particular was extremely warm in the building, I saw someone else pull out a hand fan to fan themselves. The food was ok, we got the bone marrow (not a lot of flavor, and the one bottom crustini was straight up burnt), New York steak that had undercooked side of potato’s (sad because it had great flavor), and the risotto, where if you really like scallops you’ll like this because there was definitely scallop in every bite. Staff was friendly and food came out fast

Dinner for three. I was waffling between five or four stars, as service was initially a little shaken (seemed like it was the waitress’ first night almost) but the food was just so good, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. And she did recommend the lamb skewer, which was garlicky and tender topped with tasty bits of sun-dried tomatoes and feta – delicious, my wife loved the seafood ravioli with lobster gravy and our friend enjoyed the duck breast. Two creme brûlées and the caramel bread pudding was dessert. Ladies loved the touch of lillikoi in the brûlées and the bread pudding was some of the best I’ve ever had! Prices were reasonable and portions generous; without an appetizer I was still stuffed in the end and I’m a big eater. Ambience was fine but it is an open space with high ceilings and brick walls, so even though only half full it was very loud. All in all glad we finally got to visit and highly recommend!

Wow! Definitely one of the best meals I have had in Honolulu!
Seated me at open in with no reservation and no problem.
I got a nice corner back table facing the restaurant.
1. Duck confit with saffron risotto – omgggg the duck leg was cooked to PERFECTION! The skin was super crispy and puffy, and the meat was fall apart, tender and sweet. The risotto was properly covering the plate and the portion was really large. There’s a few lightly sautéed apricots and figs on top that complimented this very autumnal dish.
2. Rack of lamb with seasonal veggies and balsamic mint sauce. The lamb was cooked perfectly and grilled nicely with no strange gas flavor from the grill. The portion was good. I got the half order which was four bones or two double chops. The temperature was more medium than medium rare, but I think it was still delicious. The olives in the vegetable medley underneath were a lovely addition. I’m not sure the balsamic and mint combination really hit it out of the park for me. I would have preferred traditional mint jelly on the side or just the balsamic reduction as the option.
3. Oxtail Mac and cheese with smoked Gouda – wow definitely one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in my life and I think this is a lot. This was just so rich, the cheese was fantastic with big chunks of garlic through it and Parmesan cheese on top. It’s kind of like a meaty French onion soup pasta…. too much…. too delicious. Kanack attack incoming!
Did not order any drinks but went totally crazy with the food!
Not cheap, but 1/2 the price of similar restaurants.
Thanks for an amazing meal 🙂

We ordered the oxtail Mac and cheese as a starter but we couldn’t even finish it the serving was huge…lots of shredded oxtail inside 8/10. Scallop mushroom risotto was out of this world, 10/10. The lamb shack with pumpkin risotto was good, 8/10. Nice, rustic, cozy place. Lighting and ambiance was nice at night. Excellent service! Moderate wait time for food. Worth the wait. Serving sizes are huge. There are onions in the risotto and Mac and cheese which isn’t really my thing but it was delicious nonetheless. Excited to come back and try other items on the menu!

The restaurant is somewhat small and very rustic, perhaps a bit more rustic than I anticipated.
Five of us for dinner and everyone was completely satisfied and very happy with their dinners. They even had specialty soft drinks for the kids.
I have never been a fan of smoked meats but I did have the smoked prime rib based on the reviews. It was amazing! Juicy, flavorful and tender. My son had the rack of lamb for the first time. He was also very happy with his choice.
Our service was easily as good as the food. Our server was always available, attentive and very pleasant.

Tried another spot and they didn’t have room, which was for the best. Came here and they had space for our party of 3.

Loved the aloha service, nice beer and whiskey selection and loved the plates. At first I thought the small plates were overpriced, but once we got them it was healthy so worth it.

Street parking and parking lots around, including Marin and Beratania municipal.

It was lunchtime, but they had prepared a dinner menu for me specially. The filet was soft and delicious. If you want to eat European and American style meat in Hawaii, it costs $53, but this is the only place you can go.

I don’t understand how this place has four stars. When I think of a place called Tavern, I’m thinking it’s a smaller more intimate spot. I don’t think this place should accommodate more than a 6 person party because when my party and I arrive there’s more than 6 of us and we have to exit to leave space for the host and other people to move around. Too much going on. The service is cool. They took our dirty plates quickly and made sure everything was clean. I’m sure if my party was smaller they would’ve asked how my food actually was. I got the Scallop Risotto. My food was very flavorless and the scallops were baby so of course you could barely tell they were there. The mushrooms were a sliver. I don’t understand how you add all these things together that are all pretty bland by themselves and there’s still no flavor to it. My issue is that for the amount expected to be paid for said dish, it’s not good. Again, had my waiter asked me I would have shared my experience. The appetizers were fair and my drink was a surprise but not bad.
