Owner René Guzmán is breaking all kinds of stereotypes with Little Ve’s, his vegan Latin restaurant inside The Switch Beer & Food Hall that’s captured the attention of Omaha vegans and carnivores alike. Whether or not you eat meat, you’ll fall for the bold, awakening flavors that take your attention away from the type of protein and transport you to Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, or El Salvador (where Guzmán’s family comes from).
Little Ve’s product is nearly indistinguishable from meat, and it’s often more delicious. The textures of these proteins is eerily similar to the original, with a similar tenderness and chew. But the spices and seasonings Little Ve’s employ are so deep they ensure diners won’t miss the “meaty” flavor.
The Torta, featuring a brilliant mock asada and fresh veggies inside a toasted roll, is among the best sandwiches in Omaha. The only thing larger than the size of the Burrito is the amount of flavor packed into it, and the Birria Tacos, complete with a slices of jackfruit that perfectly mimic pork, carry the smoky, earthy, and slightly spicy flavors birria brings to the table.
Whether you’re a vegan or a card-carrying carnivore, you’re going to love this place. Little Ve’s is one of the next big things in the Omaha food scene.
Coming from California the “Vegan Central” of what appears to be of the world, when a restaurant states that they are vegan, I know that they are vegan.
My experience in Omaha and Iowa vegan is a “state of mind” and being allergic to certain meats, I have had my share of being sick due to cross-contamination.
I ordered the Demon Nachos and hubs Burrito.
Place is clean, and it’s a good court. If you don’t mind the cacophony with all types of music and sounds then this is the place.
Wait time was approximately 20 minutes; but, it was fine.
Demon Nachos is a good helping. The flavors were complimenting each other. Meat was seasoned just right. All was fresh and tasty.
My hubs enjoyed his massive burrito.
Overall, it was a good experience. Worth the $40 for the two of us.
There is not a thing that is disappointing on the menu. It has been super cool to see this business grow, highly recommended!
