Absolutely would recommend this place, absolutely would recommend the buffet and I wish I lived closer so I could come more often.
Walking in, I told the waitress that I was celiac and asked if they had a gluten free menu. I was quickly told that everything on the menu was gluten free with the exception of the bread.
I made my order and reconfirmed my meal was gluten free. With a smile the waitress said yes, the entire menu was gluten free.
If celiac or have a gluten sensitivity, this is a place to try. It was amazing and the flavour was unreal.
The staff are friendly, professional, and provide fast service.
The prices are on the expensive side, but they’re reasonable considering the quality and location
I have been ordering Little India for delivery since they shut down the Lunch Buffet during Covid – but have not visited in person until last week.
Saw the sign advertising Lunch Buffet during a walk to the post office and immediately went in !
Happy to see Danesh and the team again in person.
The space and the Lunch Buffet is just as you may have remembered it – same taste profile and recipes and overall selection.
This is my Lunch Buffet Routine:
I start off by loading up a plate with a stack of Papadum and a spoonful of each saucy dish as an appetizer of sorts to taste my way through the selection.
Next I eat 2 Tandoori Chicken Drumsticks and smother them with the Butter Chicken sauce with either side of Naan or more Papadum. On a good day I can eat 6 drumsticks !
After that I eat another stack of Papadum and a spoonful of each saucy dish again – before going to get dessert.
In a bowl I put some custard with the DelMonte fruit toppings, some rice pudding and a Gulab.
After that I get another bowl of ice cream – 1 scoop each of Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry.
The last time I had Lunch Buffet – maybe over 7 years ago – it was $20 with tax and tip. Now the base price is $21 and with tax and tip it’s closer to $30. My sweet spot would be $25 total for tax and tip – but I guess I tip more since I like Danesh and his family.
During Covid I would get the food delivered and have the Meat Platter for Two and additional Paneer Tikka. The food travels well for takeout or delivery and I always have leftovers for a couple other meals.
Somehow I have been eating at Little India since the late 1990’s. Repetition is reputation and it’s nice to find a place where I can count on the quality and taste of food being the same for close to 30 years !
The washrooms are several floors up, so if you have mobility issues, you may have difficulty accessing them.
Food was average.
Butter chicken was much too sweet, and with the combo I chose (3), it contained only four pieces of chicken.
The lamb Vidaloo was very spicy, but a mango drink made it tolerable.
I heard that the buffet was good, so I will try it next to confirm.
