I started out with some classic Falafel (Traditional deep-fried mixture of seasoned ground chickpeas and fava beans. Served with tzatziki sauce). One of my favorite forms of fritters of all time. The flavor and aroma within is so amazing, and getting that creamy tzatziki sauce all over it only help. Very crispy, not oily. Perfection.
I also got the Spinach Pie (Spanikopita) (Flaky phyllo dough stuffed with a mixture of spinach and feta cheese. Served with tzatziki sauce). Please, don’t call it a spinach pie. Grow up and use the real name. Wow! This thing had a thousand crispy layers of phyllo, and it was gushing with spinach and feta. Very creamy and crispy, all in one. Also perfection.
For my main, I had another classic, the Gyro Pita (Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki). Side of French Fries. This is a standardized dish that I expect the same thing out of from every one I have. Soft, strong pita bread. Heaps of well seasoned gyro meat. Loads of fresh veggies to cut through all the heaviness. And gobs of that signature tzatziki. What’s not to love?
I also got to try the Olympian Pita (Chicken and gyro meat combined in one pita. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce). Side of Potato Salad. Same thing, just with chicken. The chicken was nice and charred and added to the massive amounts of meat, and flavor in this dish. Also, I would skip the potato salad, if I were you. Just get more fries.
I finished off this amazing meal with the Baklava Cheesecake. It’s exactly what it sounds like. A slice of cheesecake, with some baklava on top. Sounds simple, but it’s one of the best dessert combinations since ice cream and apple pie. The phyllo breaks apart into a hundred little pieces and adds a crispy honey texture to every bite of that cheesecake.
Overall, even though this place is a chain, all the classics are there, and they are absolutely delicious. I will be back.
After my daughter drove back to the restaurant to ask for edible chicken they remade the pita and forgot the feta. So yeah, paid for feta and didn’t get feta. This wouldn’t be a big deal if I didn’t just spend close to fifty dollars on a meal that we had to make two trips to the restaurant for and it still isn’t made right. Details matter. Your expo person isn’t checking the food the way they are supposed to. If they were they never would have let that first chicken pita leave the kitchen and they would have doubled checked that the remade order was right.
