Had dinner on a Friday in February, it was great. We ordered Chicken tenders, fries, side salad (blue cheese dressing was good!), mashed potatoes and gravy, grilled cheese and biscuits with apple butter. Food was all delicious, server (Lisa) was excellent and juggled the tables well, and we genuinely have no complaints. Loved it. Plan on coming back for breakfast in the morning!

I would not recommend this restaurant at all. It unfortunately is the only option to eat if you are staying in the lodge, but sadly they completely missed the mark. We went for dinner and my husband and I ordered the PB and Bacon burger which was “a burnt hockey puck” on a bun. It was almost inedible. My son ordered the pot roast melt and said it was “OK”. My daughter had a taco off the kids menu which looked pretty sad and not a lot of food. She also ordered fresh fruit which was mushy and clearly not “fresh”. My son ordered the fish off the kids menu and it was the best out of all the meals but still slightly mushy and he said “very fishy”. The meals were between $13-18 each and so not worth it! The waitress was nice but not very attentive and clearly not happy to be there. We stayed a few nights and decided the 10 min drive into town to find food was worth it rather than try eating here again. There is SO much potential for a fantastic restaurant in the heart of Brown County State Park … but we were totally disappointed.

First night, we were impressed with the wait staff, but not so impressed with the food. The only redeeming item was the pork tenderloin. We had our dog with us and we were allowed to sit out on the patio, which was pretty neat.
Second night, we had the meatloaf and burger. Both were delicious! Side items were pretty boring, but the real stars were the blackberry cobbler and iced tea. Both were delicious!
Limited menu, but good specials and friendly staff. The wait times were short and food served hot. Prices are reasonable and all is clean!

Horrible service had to ask for our waitress twice never got refills grilled tenderloin was burnt dried out bitter and hard could not eat it was still charged for it management stood behind their “quality priduct” and was resistent to take it off the bill. Waitress sold my husband on the soup and salad bar with tomato soup his favorite and chicken rice but the soups were potato and bland chicken noodle. This was our 3rd time coming because we are locals but we will never come back. We were treated rudely because they burnt the food.

Appalled at the lack of professionalism. Tony, who claimed to be the manager of the restaurant , was rude, disrespectful and lacks any kind of customer service skills. An inn full of guests were apparently not supposed to eat in the restaurant due to the snow. Multiple times in the attempts to check in for dinner and breakfast he huffed and puffed and literally said OH MY GOD about the amount of people expecting to eat while staying at the Inn. If a restaurant can not accommodate the patrons that are staying at the Inn, that’s probably an issue. We rented 9 rooms and spent $500 in the restaurant and were made to not feel the slightest bit welcome to dine while staying here. We have stayed in multiple state park Inns and have never experienced anything like this before. Never disappointed and will choose to spend our money and time elsewhere

Great experience! No doubt we beat the hustle & bustle of Nashville by dining here after our Friendsgiving hike of 10.5 miles to complete the 7 Vista Challenge!
Let’s get into it!
When we arrived, we had a group of 9, which is understandably concerning for restaurants. However, they accommodated us & even put us off the main dining room in our own private room, which is always nice!
Our waitress brought waters for the whole table and took our drink & food orders rather quickly.
Most of us opted for the Soup & Salad, which was quick and easy. It is JUST that: soup and salad, not a full buffet. A few women ordered entrees, those didn’t take long to come out. However, our only issue was the time it took for 2 in our group to get their salads that they had ordered as entrees. I will say, we only had 1 waitress, which may have contributed to the time it took for the ladies to get salads.
Paying was easy. I opted to pay with cash & that took longer as no one else had paid cash that day so my waitress had to go find change.
Again, minor issues & still beats what I’m sure were long wait times at any restaurant in Nashville/Brown County!

Loved the food. Perfect size for a dinner. The server was really nice. The dining room was like an old barn. A nice touch was that you would drink out of “ball” canning jars. My 2 refill was a Kerr jar. The salt shaker was a tiny masons jar. It’s a delicious place to eat if you are in the state park. 10/10 would recommend. (Will add pictures later.)

This place truly is a Little Gem. Our food was better than I had anticipated for being an on-site restaurant. The cinnamon biscuits with apple butter literally melt in your mouth. The manager Sara was very cordial and made our dining experience memorable.

Great breakfast with plenty of choices! Only negative is that we did not enjoy the fried biscuits as much as at other places in the area. They are good, but seemed a little overdone.

Portions are large enough to justify the price. Many good options when the buffet is going, which is usually on the weekends only. Make sure you ask first if that’s what you want. Service is sometimes great and other times so-so. Rustic antique charm, for example drinking out of Kerr jars. The charm goes well with the comfort food menu. This is a perfect place to eat if you are staying in Abe Martin Lodge and don’t want to venture to Nashville.
Beautiful views from the window or the outdoor area.
Summer 2021 update: The menu changes often. Prices have gone up since they took out the buffet bar. Look for the most recent menu pictures. This restaurant needs a website to maintain the often menu changes.
