All in we tried quite a few things: bitterballen, kaassoufle, potato soup, wedge salad, steak, bread board, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese. For dessert crème brûlée.
The steak and potato soup were the only thing I’d order again.
The bitterballen was a tiny fried ball with a small amount of goopy meat inside. The steak I’d rate even higher if it wasn’t as charred on the outside. The inside of the steak was good. One bread on the bread board was good but the other was too tough to chew. The regular butter was delicious but the other butter had too sour of an aftertaste. With spending what we did it was also tough to stomach the idea of paying for bread. The Mac n cheese had a weird flavor. The mashed potatoes were not hot. The baked potato soup was delicious. The wedge salad was reasonably priced but nothing special.
It’d be tough to return to pay for parking and hope the steak was cooked a little better.
Thank you Lisse from the entire Borsky Dental Team~
We noticed the special care and attention to detail from each and everyone of you!
This experience was honestly incredible. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, and the facilities were great. Interestingly, this is apace where you can either spend a lot of money, or even stay under 100 and have a fantastic meal.
We started the evening with the Bitterballen, and honestly, the dish was extremely disappointing. The balls were very small, and for 10 dollars, you only get 5 of them They tasted great enough, but I would strongly advise against ordering them unless they up the quantity. With that, we also each had a Kentucky Sunset, which was a great cocktail. We each ordered the ribeye, and it was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. One of the best steaks I have ever had. We ordered two sides, the hotsput and the Dutch Mac and Cheese. Both were so good, and also served in sharable portions. The hotsput was nothing like anything I have ever had (in a good way) and the Mac and cheese was very creamy but not liquid-y. We finished the night with an order of the boterkoek, which was sweet and delicious.
Service was extraordinary. Our server was so personable, easy going, and timely. I believe service can make or break an experience, and frankly every restaurant should aspire to be like Lisse in this regard. I believe John F(?) was our server, and he was great!
Cost was great. Many dishes are pretty cheap, however you can also go pretty big here. For everything we got, it was roughly 250 dollars, but you could easily come here and spend under 100 for two people. Very versatile financially which I think is AWESOME!
The restaurant had beautiful design inside and out. It felt very clean, modern, and upscale. Pretty casual dress code, and overall a comfortable place. My favorite part was the stained glass on the first floor! I believe there is rooftop seating, but I did not get to go up there.
Overall, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The appetizer was the only flaw on this beautiful restaurant. I would love love love to come back, and I will be suggesting it to anybody that I know.
NOTE: Star rating based on my own formula consisting of flavor, cost, facilities, service, and overall satisfaction. Reviews are subject to change based on future visits.
Side note: Adam is the greatest 🙂
The service wasn’t terrible, I was disappointed though. It was lackluster. I expected high end and it really wasn’t.
FOOD (4.2)
The Bitterballen – on the appetizers menu were not very tasty. The consistency… was mushy.
The Rembrandt
10oz Barrel Cut Filet – Delicious! Highly recommend.
Overall experience was okay
