Family Owned Peruvian Restaurant
Executive chef, Martín Castillo, and his brothers, Antonio and Eduardo, grew up around a busy kitchen. Their mother, Luz, was well known in her neighborhood for her delicious cooking: her son’s friends would always ask her to make their families a dish on special occasions.
By the 1990’s the Castillo brothers had left Perú and found themselves in the U.S. They continued their ritual of cooking home-style Peruvian dishes out of their apartment for family, friends and, soon enough, friends of friends. It was then that they knew there was something worth sharing.
By 2002, the Castillo’s first restaurant, “Limón” opened its doors on 17th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco.
Rotisserie chicken highlights the modern Peruvian menu at this casual, lively eatery.

One of our favorite spots in WC!! My absolute favorite is their Pescado Entero. Next best is their Seco De Costillas. We’ve been to this spot like three times, and each time was as great as the last! Will for sure be returning.

This would’ve been almost 5 stars (a strong 4.5), but they over charged us about $30. Service was slow but lovely. Food was amazing. I’ll come back if we ever find out where that extra $30~ we got charged went towards.

We came for lunch with our 4 month old in her stroller, and as soon as we entered we were greeted kindly by a server named Wilfredo. He then proceeded to accommodate our request to sit outside so she could nap while we ate. So nice to have baby friendly restaurants!
We ordered the pollo à la brasa, mixto amarillo, and chanchito a la diabla. Every dish was 10/10 for taste. Perfect mix of all the proteins. And ofc we ordered a pisco sour, for a perfect Peruvian lunch. We will definitely be back in the future.

Went to Limon to celebrate my Dad’s birthday and our family had a wonderful time. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The staff was friendly and our server was very helpful with some dishes we had modifications on. The chicha morada was refreshing and tasty. The whole fish was a generous portion and the flavors and sauces were delicious. The lomo saltado was seasoned perfectly and the steak was succulent. Yuca fries and plantains were also yummy! Overall had a great time! This is one of my top favorites in Walnut Creek. Definitely on my circulating restaurants list.

The food was very delicious. There were many people. When we were waiting for a table, the receptionist made a wrong call and missed us! We were asked to wait a little longer, but we were quickly seated.

The chicken was juicy. The aji Amarillo sauce was fabulous. The street parking was difficult to find. The server told us that the food would come out very quickly considering that the restaurant only has 2 tables with customers. I didn’t expect 20+ minutes to be quick I got nervous after 20 minutes waiting for the food, so I ran back to my parking spot to add more time. They also put the wrong order for my sweet potatoes fries.

The food here is delicious. The atmosphere is upbeat and crowded. We ordered the ceviche trios, rib eyes steak, seafood paella and the signature rotisserie chicken dishes. The food is amazing except the rotisserie chicken. It’s a bit dry and no flavor. The margaritas is great too. It’s a decent size without a lot of ice. Our waiter is Wilfredo. He is awesome.

Fresh, beautifully prepared and presented, authentic, delicious Peruvian dishes.
I am a regular after having my expectations met and exceeded every time I come. Wilfredo has been my server nearly every time I visit. He is the consummate professional who is kind and takes personally his responsibility for making sure his customers have a very nice time. He is the soul of Limon in Walnut Creek. Claire has also been my server and she is extremely caring and proficient. Her pleasant nature has always made us feel at home.
Sandi and her kitchen staff are amazing. The food is consistently, beautifully prepared and delicious — every dish. Limon is popular (deservedly so) and can get quite busy. But even when they are slammed, the food quality doesn’t suffer.
The bartenders are excellent. The Pisco Sours are beautifully prepared and always ice cold, frothy and super delicious.
Limon is my go-to spot when I want to make sure that my guests and I have an enjoyable, delicious evening out.
