On a chilly Sunday evening, my partner and I were looking for a nice dinner spot, so we ended up booking a reservation at Liholiho Yacht Club. This restaurant has been on my list for a really long time, so I was super eager to try it out. However, before we could even make it to the restaurant, we realized how hard parking is in the area. Literally no street parking was available so our last resort was a little valet parking garage across the street. Anyways, we parked the car and headed into the restaurant. It took a while to be greeted, but once we started the server was super nice and convinced us to do the chef’s tasting menu at 85/person. The meal was actually really great with so many dishes. It was a ton of food too and we definitely left full. Every item was well executed and it was super satisfying, but I don’t really see the Hawaiian influence. They say they are Hawaiian inspired, but from the decor to the food items, it seems disingenuous. If it were up to me I would simply change the restaurant’s name and reword the mission, but I would keep the food the same. I would go back for sure, but I will check out their sister restaurant first.

Excellent service & extrem friendly staff!
The food, we had the swordfish was really good – lovely flavor combination!
We had as starter the bao, which was ok , but the flavor profile was a little too boring to me ( especially after comparing it to the fish !)
As appetizer , we had the calmari – the whole combination didn’t work for me – broccoli too dominat & only little pieces of calamari.

The fish definitely a 5 star, the bao , 3 star, the calamari 2 .

Dessert : matcha & passionfruit/ lime cheesecake = really liked the flavor and the cardamom cream !

Good spot for a date night in Nob Hill. Good appetizers and filling entrees. We ordered the tuna poke which was fresh (but nothing special), the croquette with caviar on top was a tiny bite for $11 so we wouldn’t recommend it. The scallion noodles were just okay, I wish the noodles absorbed the sauce more since it was bland. The spam musubi rice bowl was a hidden menu but it was something anyone could make at home. Our last order, the wagyu zabuton is what saved the experience for me – it had a delicious smoky char, tender medium rare, and a good portion size. Overall it was a good experience.

Snagged some reservations for a NYE’s dinner; this is one of my favorite restaurants in SF, and as usual, it did not disappoint! I liked how for NYE, while there was a prix fixe menu available to order for the occassion, they had their regular menu items as well so I didn’t feel “forced” to order the set menu.

All the food was delicious, though in particular I enjoyed the Chips & Dip and the Baked Hawaii!

We did the tasting menu and it was ~$80/p. They’ll give you whatever the highlights are at that time but you could kinda request if you have a few that you want to try the most. It’s between 10-12 dishes and we got 11 dishes including an off-menu secret dish which ended up being one of our fav! Lol! But of course, the duck liver mousse is the must-try and save room for dessert for baked Hawaii!

Somewhere between casual and upscale. Would recommend for a special occasion. Some unique, fusion based flavors. Does get pretty loud with the crowd and music like other reviews have mentioned. We had a reservation for Friday night but I think they also some walk ins. The swordfish katsu was the standout dish for us. The fried rice was really good as well. I’d say one less star because there wasn’t anything spectacular for the price point. Service was great.

Liholiho Yacht Club blends Hawaiian roots with California creativity, a vision from chef Ravi Kapur inspired by his family’s pop-ups back on Maui. The menu is built for sharing, with dishes that highlight both heritage and innovation.

We started with the duck liver mousse—smooth and melt-in-your-mouth—followed by the poppy-seed steamed bun with beef tongue, a truly unique surprise. The local halibut kinilaw was bright and refreshing, while the American wagyu zabuton arrived tender and deeply flavorful. For dessert, the Baked Hawaii was the perfect finale—playful and delicious.
Service was excellent throughout, portions were just right, and reservations are essential as the restaurant is always in high demand.

I liked the place, I went for the chefs recommendations. It was good but felt like I received a lot of HH appetizers. I recommend going for the entrees and choose your own dessert. Will have to come back.

Came here before a show nearby. Amazing food and delicious cocktails! The pork belly buns were so perfect, but so was every other dish we had. Definitely come with a decent sized group so you can try a bunch of dishes.

TLDR: creative touches on a menu of mixed cultural heritage

I ordered the hojicha highball and it actually tasted very good, surprising that one flavor did not overpower the other. The food was pretty decent and I liked the dessert most of all. I still think it was a bit pricey considering I didn’t have a main dish and after tax and top it was still close to $95 for two apps, one dessert and one cocktail.
