I was in the area visiting family and wanted to grab some coffee before the road trip home to South Florida. A local business is better than a Starbucks. Bonus is it’s my favorite bakery in Orlando so I’m here for it.
This Light on the Sugar is located next to the Regal Cinemas in Waterford Lakes. Squished between Charley’s Philly Cheesesteaks and Zen Dumplings. What I dislike about this location is the wooden gazebo they built directly in front of these stores. It totally hides the name of the stores and it’s not appealing. This made it hard to find too. They should honestly get rid of the gazebos, these poor stores may be losing potential business because people can’t locate it.
This bakery is the smallest one compared to the original two locations I’ve been to. It’s ok because they still sell most of the same items, just less of a selection due to limited space. They offer the popular cream puffs, pastries, tarts, merch and drinks.
On this particular day, I only got the Pistachio Latte and an Americano. My husband likes a good simple coffee with no bells and whistles. The other stuff is too much for him. Ha. I really debated getting pastries for the road but I was just at the Winter Park location yesterday and got an assortment so I was good on pastries.
My Pistachio Latte was good, but it was a tad on the sweet sweeter side. I had my husband mix some of his Americano with my latte so it balanced out a little bit more for both of us.
All in all, nice new and intimate location with a few tables indoors and outdoors. I still prefer the other beautiful and more aesthetic locations. Good thing this bakery wasn’t here when I lived here, I would be broke! Lol.
On this my 4th trip I picked up a giant croissant, a divine creme brulee puff and a hot mocha coffee with almond milk. If you’re croissants do not make a crumb mess when you bite into them, you’re not eating a real croissant. It’s so good. The créme brulée puff is delicious and the mocha coffee always hits.
Located inside Waterford Lakes Town Center, next to ZaZa and across from the Regal Theatre. Its the cute shop under the pergola.
The service is always excellent! The time between ordering & getting your stuff is great.
I had the reindeer Ferraro Rocher cream puff and it was so creamy and delicious and had a sprinkle of salt that in my opinion made it even better.
It is so puffing good.
I can’t believe I didn’t know this was here.
It’s so delicious… don’t pass it up.
It’s really the best
We happened to be in the area and gave it a try. Parking is a hit and miss, the place is small and I would not plan on dinning in as the place is small with very limited indoor seating.
When we came in, there were 3 people serving, totally ignored by 2 of them. They were talking to each other even though I was right there in front of them. I understand being busy but at least acknowledge me. The only one that helped us was the cashier, she explained what Ube was and gave us some recommendations. We took our order to go and wow!!!! Amazing!!!!!!
We had the Ube cheesecake, a creme brulee cream puff and a honey crepe something.
A m a z i n g !!! Sugar level was perfect !!!!!! I don’t like things too sweet and these were just perfect!!!!
Would definitely come back (of course to go again)
These are probaly the cleanest baked goods I’ve ever had without sacrificing any flavor what so ever.
The Matcha Strawberry Cream puff – outer layer is a soft pastry/ eclair like shell, next layer is creamy matcha filling, and interior is a light vanilla cream, put all of these things together, what a knockout in a bite. Amazing flavor, amazing presentation BAM.
The Cheesecake is so deceiving (in a good way) it looks so fluffy, and light, and you bite into it…it’s a rich, creamy heaven with a golden brown crust on the bottom.
The strawberry cream puff is probaly the most basic desert there, however don’t let it fool you it packs a serious punch of strawberry cream flavor. They don’t skimp out on size of their goods, everything you pay for has a healthy portion size.
The staff is very nice, I made a joke about how excited I was to try, and they followed along, even though it was probaly a terrible dad joke . Place is clean, fresh, and I’ll for sure be back on a Sunday crave!!!!!!
