We were two and opted for Combo #1 (Arjuana). We asked to switch one item and they kindly accommodated. Everything was delicious. I noticed that they did not ask for level of spiciness and I found the lamb a bit too hot. They also forgot to serve us the included dessert (fruit salad). Would have been good to digest but overall it was good.

I’ve dined in a few times. It’s always been a great experience, the owner is the sweetest. I have been ordering Uber eats from here for years now. Iv tried almost every Indian restaurant in the city because Indian food is my all time favourite. This place has been my number one choice for over a decade. Great food, great service, family owned. Love love love this place. Iv literally had dreams about their food lol

My favourite place to get Indian food. Their samosas are the best I’ve found, and the chicken korma is delicious. Waiters are all very friendly, and there is never a wait for a table.

This little Gem in the Glebe area off First avenue is a place you should consider for a nice lunch. Yes Buffet style that pacts a punch. Essential dishes that you would find in a buffet. Less is more. Flavors are out of this world. An array of sides to add more spice to your life. Everyday they add a few different dishes to make it intriguing. Tandoori, Butter, curry chicken dishes are the Bomb. Lots of veggie dishes to choose from and two types of rice. Old faithful Basmati and a Veggie Basmati. Don’t forget the sweets after that will put a smile on your face. Can’t wait to go back. Cheers

Don’t listen to anyone else, this is the best Indian food in Ottawa! Very allergy friendly and good for Celiacs! The only gluten in the restaurant is in samosas and naan! You can tell the owner is proud of his food. Definitely going back.

I love this place. Super nice staff that make you feel comfortable and the food is excellent!!!! I’ve tried the chicken bhuna and the eggplant curry dish, excellent food!!! I also attended a birthday party for a friend’s 50th once and the place was packed and they accommodated everyone (like 25 people) so large groups are doable

y wife and I recently visited Light of India in Ottawa for our first time, hoping to explore authentic Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations in several critical ways.
The food quality was a major concern. What arrived at our table tasted as though it had been pre-packaged and simply reheated in a microwave—a far cry from freshly prepared Indian dishes. The flavors were muted and uninspiring, making it difficult to enjoy the meal.
Beyond the food itself, we were disappointed by the restaurant’s lack of honesty about their preparation methods and sourcing. This breach of trust, combined with the mediocre quality, significantly detracted from the overall experience.
My recommendation: If you’re looking to explore authentic Indian cuisine in Ottawa, I’d suggest trying another establishment. There are better options available that will give you a genuine introduction to Indian food.

First time at this restaurant, Saturday night, it was only few tables were occupied.

We wanted to taste more than two dishes so I asked the server/ (I think it was the manager/owner)he explain the menus and recommend the group dish for two or more people.
There was onion bhaji that I find a bit dry a not so much onion flavours in it, I have drizzled it with a lot sauce.
Meat samosa, again it was a bit blunt and needed more seasoning.
Mushroom in sweet tomato sauce, it was good.
Beef dish was good, nice and tender and full of flavour.
Shrimp dish was good too.
Dishes were accompanied with rice and naan bread.
And the home made lemonade was good too, but it was a bit pricey.
I will go back and try more of their dishes.
The server were chatty and made us very welcome.

Ordered butter chicken and rice for $35 and was so dissappinted. The portions are too small for the price and the butter chicken tasted like one of those frozen microwaved butter chicken you can get at grocery store. Was super runny and had absolutely no flavor besides being super sweet like a dessert (too much sugar).
