This was a relatives favorite place and we found ourselves in Gbo and decided to hit it up in her honor. Just as good as I remembered. I had the shrimp and grits and truly one of best iterations of that dish I’ve ever had. One dining partner got the Dynamite shrimp appetizer and the other got the Sargent Pepper. Sandwich with pasta salad. We all enjoyed it. Sometimes the old favorites are a disappointment but not this place. Kind of like that old face sweatshirt that fits better and just makes you feel good. Our server was great and that dining room is just too cool. Great bar and a small but eclectic craft beer selection.

Food was ok. I got the fried oysters and crab cakes with Brussel sprouts. Fried oysters was a little more liquid than I would like, but crab cakes was good. Brussel sprouts need a little more flavoring, but with the bourbon sauce they were good. My friend said his steak was average. Customer service was amazing! And oddly… their water tasted really good. It wasn’t sink tap water

We were there for lunch today and everything was terrific. The cocktails were amazing and our salmon and crab cake lunches were delicious. We will definitely be back!

Quaint little place in heart of downtown. Inside and outside seating. Outside seating is in shade. Nicely stocked bar! Ended up eating fancy grilled cheese sandwiches with goats cheese tomato soup. Supports the local with local on tap Red Oak beers on draft.

My wife decided on Liberty Oaks for her birthday dinner, 6 adults and 3 younger children. After drinks and appetizers our food was brought out. The youngest child ordered chicken tenders. Luckily one of us broke them in half to let them cool down and I saw the chicken was RAW. As Gordon Ramsey would say, its bloody RAW, do you want to kill someone! They took it back and brought a new plate, never apologized or offered to take the chicken off the bill. I brought a small cake in to have after dinner and was charged $18 for bringing in a small $23 dollar cake. What did we get for our 18-dollar cake fee? 9 spoons to eat the cake with and 9 small serving plates. Who eats cake with a spoon? I could see charging maybe $1 per person but $18 is a bit excessive in my opinion. Anywhere else you go, they bring the birthday person ice cream or something and do not charge them. Not to mention, the 20% gratuity was charged for the $18 as well. The food was mediocre at best and the bill for my wife and I was $184. We each had 2 drinks, shared an appetizer, and each had an entree and of course the $18 cake fee. The filet was ordered medium rare and 1 of the 2 medallions was extremely rare. We will never be back to this restaurant and will not recommend it to anyone we know.

Great food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Met friends for lunch and we lingered a bit to catch up. Never felt rushed. There is a very reasonable parking garage right next door ($1/hour).

I come to Greensboro often for work and was staying In the Colosseum area and decided to stay downtown to try out local restaurants. I tried Liberty Oak on my last night and ordered their Shrimp & Grits. I’ve eaten shrimp and grits probably every city, area, etc. across the country where I traveled for work and these were hands down the in the Top 2 of my favorite grits. Outside of the food, the service was great. The women on the phone who took my order and the server who served me my food were attentive, kind, and made you feel welcome. 1000/10 would recommend! I’ll be back soon!

We have not eaten there yet, but the ambiance and decor is beautiful. If the food is as good as it smelled, can’t wait to try it.

Although I’ve lived in the area for quite a long time, I have never gotten the chance to try out the restaurant until recently and I was not disappointed. The meat of the steak was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The appetizers did not disappoint either.
