This is one of my favorite wine bars in Portland when it was Les Caves and now as Bar Nina. The team running Bar Nina is fantastic and super knowledgeable about wine so its fun to sit at bar to learn something from them.
Ive never had a wine I didnt like there which really shows they take time and effort curating their menu. You can’t go wrong with any wine option.

Its a smaller intimate space with largest table being able to seat about 4 people (2 of those tables) then at bar theres about 8 seats there.

Please note you do have to walk down stairs to get to the wine bar.

Tucked into the neighborhood in, yes, a wine cave like setting, this little gem of a bar feels like a slice of Europe. Welcoming, relaxed, and refreshingly unpretentious. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in, slow down, and really enjoy the experience. The vinyl music emanating with your pours is another special touch.

Owner Jeff clearly knows his wines and has curated a thoughtful collection. What makes it even better is his enthusiasm for sharing it. He’s often happy to open a bottle and pour a small taste so you can explore something new. It turns choosing a glass into more of a conversation and discovery than just ordering from a list. Also, don’t forget to order the fig jam and manchego with a baguette to go with your tastings!

I don’t drink, but my girlfriend does, and we both had an outstanding time at this wine bar. The staff were truly exceptional—warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable without ever being pushy. They guided my girlfriend through the wine list with care and offered spot-on recommendations she absolutely loved. Even though I wasn’t drinking, they made sure I felt just as included with great non-alcoholic options and food that was genuinely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service made the whole experience feel effortless. It’s rare to find a place where both the wine lover and the non-drinker can have an equally great night, but this spot nailed it.

Pierre and Nathan are simply the best! We came out for Beaujolais night and it was an incredible night. Packed house, great service and some delightful wines. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a wonderful wine selection and ambiance, look no future and come experience it for yourself.

Horrible service with yes a very “pompous” waiter. Read the other poor reviews to know how are experience went. Seems to be a pattern. We regret even tipping him even though he was so rude to us we maintained kindness and polite behavior in response to his crappy little attitude. Be KINDER Bar Nina! Do better.

I was excited to share this cute space with my boyfriend after having been once before with some girlfriends. But was unfortunately met with a rude, pompous server (the only one there) immediately upon arrival.
We were the only patrons in the bar the entire time we were there.

We asked to sit in the cave because again, not another patron. And was told there was a reservation for the cave in 40 minute. We told him we would only be there for 20 minute because we had a dinner reservation to get to and he scoffed and continued to serve up the most attitude I’ve ever gotten at an establishment. Already feeling belittled by the server, I ask for him to run over the flavor profiles of the orange and red wines and he says there’s too many to go over all of them (there are literally 6 on the menu in total). And eventually he goes over 2 options as if I’m annoying him with my presence. To make matters worse, there was another employee who looks like the owner of the bar, right next to him during the whole encounter and doesn’t say anything. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable the entire time.

Although the wine itself was good, I would be very hesitant to ever recommend this place to anyone unless you want to leave feeling upset. They need to get rid of this server.

Came here to celebrate my friends recent promotion. Place is very cozy and eclectic in a great way. Lovely wine selection, plenty of options without being overwhelming. Champagne list was great and reasonably priced. Staff was lovely. Very friendly and welcoming.Kept our champagne chilled for us and made sure our glasses were never empty. Will definitely be back!

It’s a very cozy, stylish place with a great variety of drinks. The staff is very friendly and fun.

We didn’t have any food, so I cannot comment on that.

As a semi-frequent patron of Les Caves, I felt slightly apprehensive when I saw the name change, but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to give it a shot. As a whole, the business is pretty much the same besides one or two new faces, minor decor changes, a small adjustment of ownership, and a few more snack options. The wine selection is wonderful, ranging from affordable mystery pours to exquisite aged bottles. In addition to the great wine, Nathan and Pierre will make you feel like family with their unmatched hospitality. They make this a special place, no matter the name the business operates under.

Love this spot. It’s so unique, cozy, and dark being situated in a basement/cave. Great spot for a low key night with friends or a date. The wine selection is nice, good snacks (recommend the toasted almonds), and service is solid. Friendly team. Consider making a reservation, as it is pretty small. On Resy, the “lounge” is the basement/cave portion.

We went here once before with it was Les Caves. It was very cool then, too, and I think basically the same. I’m pretty sure it’s under the same ownership, just with a new name.
