The menu is short, handwritten on a chalkboard focused for carnivore.
We were 3 so we ordered and shared many of the dishes; house-made terrine with tangy chutney, egg-mayo elevated with black garlic and fish roe, sweetbreads, and veal head carpaccio.
The absolute MUST-ORDER is the legendary saucisse-purée: a beautifully herbed sausage HANDMADE by chef Thomas Brachet, with silky mashed potatoes soaked in an almost sticky jus — incredible value and unforgettable.
The Mousse au chocolat was made in haven the Riz au lait was good (less than the mousse…).
Not a place for vegetarians, but for anyone craving nostalgic French comfort food done with flair, this spot delivers big time.
The service was excellent, professional and friendly.
We paid about €180 for 3 persons including one bottle of Aligote.
Very cosy vibe, lovely and receptive servers (recommended a perfect red wine according to what we requested) and delicious food!
We had the carpaccio, scallops and sausage plates and a chocolate mousse for desert. The mashed potatoes were the best I have ever had, absolutely delectable ✨
Highly recommend this place
Fast forward: we were starving one day after a long night, woke up late afternoon, and pulled up right before the café closed… and they were so accommodating. No attitude, no weirdness — just good energy.
They poured us great wine, and the food was unreal. Like genuinely… the passion behind it is obvious. It didn’t feel like “just a meal,” it felt like art. Everything had that old-school French bistro soul but still felt special and intentional.
I’m not even exaggerating — I still think about this place. I won’t stop thinking about it until I end up stumbling across this cafe once again.
Complimentary sausage slices had good flavour, and you can see how it’s almost see through despite the strong bite.
Terrine with apricot was interesting, the meat was fine but the sweetness of the apricot was unabashed, and it was so unique. What’s funny is how the apricot jam is muted in sweetness instead, and was quite spiced. The cornichons were lovely, with a strong crunch.
Their signature sausage is alright. It’s loosely packed, and slightly crisped up, but what makes it magical is how for some reason, the gravy, sauce and sausage work together immensely well, far greater than the sum of it’s parts. Delicious together
And the chocolate mousse might be the best I’ve had. The mousse itself was already textbook, but there’s so many little things from the millefeuille in the small amount of coffee sauce at the bottom, the cocoa nibs in the mousse, the small amount of salt and the flavourful crisp on top that comes together so seamlessly, which makes it masterful.
Unfortunately the menu was on rotation and I didn’t get to try their more unusual offal cuts today. Nonetheless, I’ve seen enough to want to visit again, which is extremely rare for me. All while being just 44€ means it’s very reasonably priced for the quality
