We came to Leaven today for a birthday outing. It was our first time and we will definitely be back. The coffee was great and the food was absolutely amazing. Wonderful flavors, fresh ingredients, and more than ample serving sizes for sure. Their French toast was some of the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying something since it’s one of my favorite breakfast foods. You can tell they know what they’re doing when it comes to baking and cooking.

Popped in with a quick to-go order for a few friends. Great atmosphere, amazing selection of both prepared and made to order options. I tried the southern style fish and chips – the fish was breaded perfectly and expertly cooked. The fries were seasoned and delicious.
The staff was very pleasant and engaging. I can’t wait to go back and try the next option and pick up a loaf of bread.

Leaven Bakery is such a gem! If we lived closer, we would be frequenting regularly! We stopped in for coffee and breakfast and everyone was incredibly friendly. The breakfast burrito and sandwich were huge portions and absolutely delicious. We ordered bread and a pastry to go and were not disappointed. We will be sure to return anytime we are within a 50 mile radius! It’s worth it to drive out of your way a bit!

It is a very cute little bakery/ cafe. I ordered at the counter and assumed we would still have a server come check in on us here and there, no one did. There are no high chairs for children so my husband ate his breakfast while holding our baby. I ordered a wet burrito and either the sauce was not very warm to start with or was not warm at all, which made the rest of the burrito disappointing. I ordered pancakes for my kids and they were a little darker like they were on the griddle too long. Cinnamon rolls were good, but $12.50 for 2 is pretty pricey to me. I was excited to try this local place but I left pretty disappointed.

I was expecting the breakfast sandwich to be small, but it’s definitely a full-sized sandwich with lots of things on it. It also comes with potatoes. Both were fantastic. I got a coffee, scone and muffin, as well. The food was all really good, as was the indoor/outdoor area of the bakery. The location is a bit conspicuous, but not completely out there. Not a ton of parking, but there’s enough for the small area. Staff was polite and courteous. Price wasn’t anything more than a place like Starbucks or Panera. The only improvement I can think of would be to have a bag for takeout my order was to-go and the two boxes, plus cup of coffee, made it difficult to carry out, but that’s not that big of a deal. Absolutely worth a try, if you want to support a local business!

First time stopping in was New Years Day for breakfast. Food and coffee was great, portion sizes were perfect. Left with a beautiful loaf of bread an a muffin which were equally delicious. Cozy space, will definitely go back again.

Leaven Bakery is the hidden gem of New Albany! We have visited on two different mornings and each visit the food was equally amazing.
When you walk in, you are immediately greeted happily by the owners/chefs as they cook and bake in the open concept kitchen right beside you. They have two dining rooms inside, and a few tables with umbrellas outside. It’s open and spacious, and bright. The staff is so friendly.
There is a case of made-from-scratch desserts and breads (that sourdough, though) that change. We have tried a lot of them, as well as two of their breakfast sandwiches. They make their sandwiches with fresh bread they bake themselves, and they are huge! Breakfast sandwiches are served with herbed potatoes. They serve drip coffee and offer organic juices and other beverages.
I do have a few observations to share. If you plan to order a breakfast sandwich, make sure you have a little time to wait. Since everything is made to serve, it takes a little longer for the sandwiches. Secondly, I wish the menu was a little larger because I want to try more of their delicious creations! 🙂

Y’all are sleeping on this place. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but on the inside it is a quaint bakery filled with amazing food choices. If you’re looking chain food, this isn’t it. But if you want to experience a cool atmosphere with amazing unique food, this is your place.

Best fresh food, homemade with love. The breads are amazing you can tell extra care was taken in the process. Exceptional club sandwich & side salad. Lemon thyme vinegrette dressing was delicious. Coffee is always a go to. Love the ambience, the chatter of happy workers & customers. Workers singing along to nice music, at a perfect noise level. The touch of floral on tables, very welcoming & sweet. Oh & the pumpkin scone
