Every year we visit Bar Harbor and we slept on this place. Coming from Boston we figured our local Irish pub couldn’t be beat, so we never gave it a visit until now. We were blown away. Best shepherds pie I’ve ever had, and my wife’s steak was incredible. The drinks were delightful and well balanced. This is truly one of the best meals we’ve had in bar harbor.

Right in the middle of Bar Harbor’s hustle and buzzle, we grabbed the last outdoor table at Leary’s Landing Irish Pub — perfect for people-watching and winding down after a day of exploring.

The service wasn’t exactly warm or helpful, but since we already knew what we wanted, it wasn’t a dealbreaker. I ordered an Old Fashioned with chocolate bitters — an unexpectedly delicious twist on the classic. My Shepherd’s Pie was hearty and flavorful, especially paired with Leary’s salad for a lighter balance.

Meanwhile, my husband continued his personal mission to try lobster bisque at every restaurant in Maine — and Leary’s version earned solid marks as a runner-up on his bisque leaderboard. Rich, creamy, and satisfying, just shy of the gold medal.

To keep it Irish, I finished with a Black & Tan — a bit darker than my preferred Newcastle-and-Guinness blend, but still a fine way to toast the evening.

Bottom line: Leary’s Landing is a solid pub for hearty comfort food, good drinks, and prime people-watching. Service could use a smile or two, but the vibe — and that bisque — make it worth the stop.

Great Irish pub with excellent service. Seating is cozy, not too loud. The staff are all kind and enthusiastic. The food is not bad, but also not great. The menu has something for everyone and I think anyone would be happy with their dish.

My husband and I came in for lunch one day where they sat us down immediately. They only had the bar open which was fine with us. We ordered there pub fries, and Ruben. Both were so good. If you get a chance try their blueberry barbecue sauce it was so yummy!

We loved this place! The best Bangers and Mash and Corned beef sandwich. The artichoke dip was very good as well and I highly recommend the Blueberry Mule.

I really enjoyed my time here! The atmosphere feels like a true Irish bar — warm, welcoming, and full of character. The beer selection is excellent, with perfectly poured pints, and there’s also a wide choice of other drinks. The food menu is surprisingly large, offering something for everyone.

The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good company, and feel right at home. Definitely worth a visit if you want the real Irish pub vibe in town.

Stopped here after our Acadia hike because it was one of the few spots in town open for lunch. Casual, pub vibes. Service was good overall. The food was also good: I had the fish and chips, my dining partner had the lobster roll and the kids ordered off the kids’ menu (Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and fries). I enjoyed the games we could play at our table and the overall atmosphere.

Absolutely loved this place! We went here for a late dinner and drink and were surprised at how delicious both the food and drinks were.
We ordered the violet margarita and a lemon mint whiskey drink. We also ordered the lobster bisque, Brussel sprouts and the shepherds pie. All three were amazing! The lobster bisque was very creamy and had a few good chunks of lobster in it. The brussel sprouts were crispy and a little sweet with some pieces of bacon. The Shepards pie was so good and the pieces of veggies were big. There was so much flavor in all of the food. We were very impressed by the courteous service that was provided by the host and the waiter. I highly recommend stopping here when you are in town.
