I took le menu affaire ( the day’s plate ) so it was delicious and I will come back to try other suggestions from the menu .
Nice French Restaurant.
Decor/Ambiance/Service: Situated on the Rue de Mulhouse (Saint Louis), Le Trianon is attractive from the outside (although not situated in an attractive location) with an outdoor seating area protected by parasols. The outdoor area is a bit dishevelled, ‘carpeted’ with artificial turf and situated adjacent to a short stay (2h blue zone) car park. The car park is convenient, although unattractive, but the seating area is hedged so that you’d hardly know it was there while eating. We didn’t really see the inside of the restaurant, so can’t comment on it. Service was courteous, friendly and timely and there was never a time we felt rushed.
Food: We ate on Friday lunchtime. We’ve previously tried to eat here in the evening without booking (that didn’t work out well due to it’s popularity). The menu focussed on a small number of dishes that smacked of France’s time honoured culinary prowess with a little international flair. We took took one ‘Menu Affaire’ and one ‘Trianon Viande’ (salmon followed by duck). The contents of each dish were varied, interesting and tasty. To try to describe the exact composition of what we ate might be pointless as I get the impression that this might vary reasonably often. I’ve added photographs to be sure you can see what we were served. The preparation and ‘Cuisson’ was perfect for all parts of our meal. The snails in the millefeuille d’escargots (I hope that accurately describes this bite sized délice from my starter) were the best I can remember eating. No hint of toughness or overcooking and not overpowered by herbs. In fact there was not one single part of the ‘Menu Affaire’ that I didn’t enjoy. As far as quantity is concerned, I don’t need a lot for lunch and this was far more than I needed. Really it was a pleasure to eat such well prepared, well cooked and well presented food. The prices were reasonable for such quality. Without any hesitation I’m happy to say that Le Trianon is the best restaurant in which I’ve eaten, in the Saint Louis area and my wife felt the same way. Well worth a visit.
