So disappointed to write this one. This was one of our go to spots in the village and have suggested it to many people. But, like so many reviews lately, something must have changed recently. Change in ownership? Change in management?

It was our first time dining here. It was a great date night. The food was amazing, they had live music (Lola Christine), she was wonderful. The service was great. Would come back for sure.

We had a great time. Live music even on Wednesday!!! Very professional musician. I think his name was Raynaldo. He did a lot of Classic rock and a little Mexican music. The paella was the best I’ve tasted since Spain. Server was awesome!!!

Service was solid, outdoor seating is plentiful, nice and toasty under the heaters, the chairs outside are awful, but barstool chairs are almost always awful.

Disappointed to write this review since we frequent this restaurant and usually have a great experience. Dined for lunch. Walked in at 1:15 and there were maybe 10-12 other tables/patrons in the restaurant with multiple servers, bartenders, and manager standing around. Seated in main dining area and then never greeted or approached again as multiple staff walked past us appearing to be really busy examining glassware and walking circles around the restaurant. Had to get up and go to the host stand to ask if it would be possible for someone to come and serve us. All 3 at the stand looked confused and said someone would come help us. Disgruntled “someone” appeared 5 mins later and said they would be taking over (for who???) and took our order. BLT was cold, with soggy Parmesan cheese melted on the outside of the bread. Tasted like it was prepped at 8am and put under the salamander to warm up before serving. Too bad since spot is in a great location and has a cute ambiance.

The service was friendly, quick and attentive. The manager even came to visit our our large group to see how everything was going. On average you spend at least $20 per person with meal and drink but I felt it was still worth it. The quality of food was so good..I personally had the shrimp and grits which was amazing. I didn’t think I’d like the poach eggs but I was wrong. It added such good flavor to the dish. Anyone visiting the area should definitely add this to one of the places to try.

I love coming here because the food is amazing! Never really had outstanding service though. It’s not terrible, just not good either. To give an example, I here a couple of days ago and the wait staff seemed like they were all just ready to go home, despite it being 2 in the afternoon. They weren’t upbeat and positive, but then they also weren’t particularly rude. They did begin clearing our plates before we were finished without asking which was kind of weird. Like, we were acrively still eating it and had the dish infront of us, but once again mostly just weird but not anything terrible. The food, per usual, was fantastic though. My mom and I split an ahi tuna sandwich which was heavenly, and a lovely lobster bisque.

After our visit to Le Papagayo in Encinitas a few months ago, both @gbocean and @odez1 recommended that we also visit their location in Carlsbad Village for comparison purposes. Well, good call ladies!

Great food. Great service. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Simple Tip: If you’re looking for quieter dining, simply request the “semi-covered” patio. Pleasant space to fill with wonderful food, friends and delightful conversations. And, if you happen to be gluten-free, the Flourless Chocolate Cake is FABULOUS!
