The happy hour pricing isn’t as great as I remember. It was only $2 off. However, for a meal in Carlsbad it’s not bad. I’m actually still full from the Papagayo flat bread.
I also ordered the mussels which didn’t hit like this other sushi place. The bartender was gracious enough to remove it from my bill.
The sangria was delicious.
Bathrooms were clean. There’s a semi private dining area. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I love that it’s open.

Wing report!
I like my wings naked, on the small side and a hair above Buffalo-spicy. If they offer flats-only, that’s a big plus. I appreciate being asked about ranch/blue cheese and prefer the blue cheese. I enjoy my wings best in a friendly sports bar with as many TVs as they can fit. I usually grab a spot at the bar. With that being said, I rate this establishment as following (out of 10):

I had an amazing experience at Le Papagayo Carlsbad! The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive waitstaff who made us feel right at home. The restaurant was spotless, and the restrooms were impeccably clean. The Eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked with a delightful balance of flavors. I decided to try this place for breakfast for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by its inviting atmosphere and immaculate cleanliness. My server, Jean, was a delight—friendly and engaging, she made the experience even more enjoyable. For my meal, I opted for a classic breakfast: over medium eggs, and extra crispy bacon (I love crunchy bacon ) that was delightfully savory. To satisfy my sweet tooth, I indulged in a stack of cinnamon pancakes, warm and fluffy, with just the right hint of spice. I finished my meal with a steaming cup of rich, aromatic coffee. Overall, it was a satisfying start to my day!

Oh how I love La Papagayo Carlsbad! This place and it’s a great spot to go to as you are leaving San Diego and want a solid breakfast before travel. We sat outside and so glad we did as the amazing and fun Pricilla was our server and helped us so much thru this very wonderful menu of options. We downed glass after glass of champagne and suggest the amazing Bloody Mary be part of your brunch experience. The Luxury Burrito is wonderful and hearty enough to eat half of it here then save the rest for when you on the road. Other highlights include these amazing cocktails such as a Carmel martini and the expresso one so very strong you might only need …two. Thank you Pricilla for your awesome customer service. We will definitely be back and request your section as like us its full of that luxury star power and pizazz!

There’s plenty of seating inside and outside, some of the tables have a small fire in the centre.

I was not expecting this place to be as good as it was! Everything was an absolute hit. We came during happy hour so we did not try the main entrees. We got the house made sangria, birria nachos, and skillet Mac and cheese with bacon. Sangria was delicious and complex, spicy and sweet but not too much, Mac and cheese was creamy not dry, with a crispy top and perfectly complemented by the bacon, and the birria has a pleasant sweet spice like cinnamon. 10/10, will be back again and you should absolutely try it.

I absolutely love this place! The ambiance is wonderful, the service is attentive, and of course, the food is superb. I ordered the prime rib sandwich—the bread was perfectly crispy and the beef juicy. I highly recommend dining here. There’s a parking lot next to the restaurant, but finding a spot can be a bit tricky. It’s worth the effort though.
