Came for Sunday brunch during Geneva Restaurant week and so glad we did! They offered a 3 course pre fix menu that was outstanding! Started with French onion soup that was delicious. 2nd course was the Croque Monsier that was cheesy and very tasty. My friend got the French toast which she shared and I thought was better than my sandwich. And it was finished with creme brulee. Our server was attentive, fun, and friendly. Loved this experience!

WOW. I’m no connoisseur of French cuisine, but this has got to be one of the best from Aurora to Chicago. First off, it’s a nice cozy location that’s different and interesting. There’s an outdoor patio that’s quite nice, but we visited a few weeks ago when it was a little cooler out. It seemed like they had heaters out there. The inside however, is tight. There’s not a ton of room between tables and the tables themself felt unnecessarily long – i.e. my wife and I felt kind of far apart and had to lean in to talk. That said, we started with some excellent drinks (albeit a bit overpriced). I got a French 75 and an old fashioned; my wife got an espresso martini. All of them were wonderful, though I especially liked the old fashioned. Now, let’s talk food. To start we got the French onion soup – absolutely ridiculous. Hands down the best French onion soup I have ever had. For dinner, my wife got the steak frites which was spot on delicious and classic. The fries were excellent and the steak had great flavor and was cooked as requested. I got the pork belly stew ( I forget the actual name of the dish) – wow, wow, wow!! I’ve never had anything like this but it might be one of the best things I’ve eaten in my entire life – no exaggeration. The fatty rich pork belly was expertly cooked and crispy on the outside laid on a humble bed of beans. The fattiness of the pork was a perfect partner to the beans which brought some balance to the dish. Literally could not recommend this dish more. Lastly, the waitress was attentive and friendly. All around, it was an amazing experience. Since this place is still a bit new, I’d label it a hidden gem. It was busy so it’s kind of a “if you know you know” situation.

We went in expecting a refined French experience, and while the service was genuinely excellent, the food fell flat. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and easily the highlight of the evening — professional without being overbearing and clearly doing their best.

Unfortunately, the kitchen didn’t match that level of care. The pork chop was extremely dry and buried under so much black pepper that it overpowered everything else. The accompanying butter sauce had split, leaving it greasy rather than silky. The roasted parsnips were so undercooked they were still essentially raw, and although the dish was advertised with mushrooms, there was only a single one on the plate — burnt beyond recognition and inedible.

Dessert didn’t redeem the meal. The duck fat beignets were heavy, overly oily, and carried the unmistakable taste of old fryer oil.

All in all, the service deserved applause, but the food felt careless and inconsistent — especially disappointing at a restaurant presenting itself as French cuisine.

We were invited to this restaurant by friends. And I want to say that we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food, namely very tasty salads, fresh oysters, and snails were cooked quite well. Plus, the cocktails were not bad either. I want to say separately about the dessert, I really liked the chocolate cake in the middle with melted chocolate. And of course, what is not least important, the prices are quite reasonable! Therefore, I recommend it!

Great spot with delicious food and great drinks. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. We went for brunch, but we’ll return to try their dinner menu. The place is beautifully decorated. They offer outdoor sitting for the warm weather days.

Glad to have this wonderful French restaurant in the area. This is a must-go place for any foodies in the area. They have plenty of outdoor seating, but we sat inside due to the rain. They had a good high-end feel going for the seating area. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with some great recommendations. The portions are small (which it typical of French restaurants) but the flavors were amazing and the presentation was over the top. The grilled cauliflower and hot honey was amazing. I had the beef Bourguignon which was melt-in-your-mouth good and paired very well with a Petite Syrah. Great place for date night in Geneva!

A Charming Night Out at Le Cochon
We had a truly wonderful evening at Le Cochon Wine Bar and Bistro in Geneva, IL — a gem of a spot that delivered charm, flavor, and hospitality from start to finish.

Atmosphere
It was one of the first warm nights of the year, and their outdoor patio was absolutely the place to be. Beautifully set up and surrounded by an inviting ambiance, the patio added so much to our experience.

Wine Selection
Le Cochon boasts a fantastic wine list, and we were especially pleased with our selections:

2020 Jean Marc Barthez Bordeaux Rouge – rich and balanced

2023 Nicolas Reau Cabernet Franc – fresh and expressive

2020 Chamfort Rasteau – bold with depth
Each was well curated and paired nicely with our meal.

️ Food & Courses
Starter: Fromage and Charcuterie Board
Absolutely excellent — the variety was top-tier. Our favorite cheese was the sheep’s milk, creamy and distinct, and the pistachio pâté stood out among the meats. A perfect beginning.

Salad: Pear and Beet Salad
This was light and refreshing, with a nice blend of textures. The only minor note was that the beets were a bit heavy on the vinegar, but the dish overall was still very enjoyable.

Small Plate: Brochette Skewers
The sauce was delicious, though the meat’s cook and tenderness were just okay. The only real downside was the small portion size, which left us wanting a bit more.

Main Course: Beef Bourguignon
A standout dish. While they were out of the mashed potatoes, the substitute potato side was excellent. The short rib was incredibly tender, and the rich sauce brought everything together beautifully.

Dessert: Crème Brûlée
Save room for dessert! This was absolutely superb — not overly sweet, with a perfectly balanced custard and a crisp top. We’ll come back just for this dessert!

Service
A special shoutout to our server Michael D, who was a total pro. Despite managing a hectic evening with many tables outside, he remained attentive, friendly, and composed. His professionalism truly enhanced the night.

Thank you, Le Cochon, for a memorable evening! We’ll definitely be back — and bringing friends. ✨

Very nice, small, intimate, cozy setting with great ambiance. Service was wonderful, everyone was so accommodating and friendly. Dishes had nice presentation. Tried the Restaurant Week tasting menu.
PROS: The Onion Soup, Beef Crocket & Sole Meunière were delicious! The Beef Bourguignon was also very tasty, but my gripe is the way it was served as a hunk of braised beef with a couple of pieces of veg and a small portion of mashed potato. A traditional dish would have been served as a stew with gravy & more veg, so the title is misleading and I wish they would have called it something else!
2 CONS: The farmed-oysters (3 of them) were inexcusably tiny. Their shameful size was underwhelming and I got nothing out of this dish. The Crème Brûlée was served as such a scant, thin layer, so the only thing I could taste was the candied sugar on top. Serving a double portion in a smaller dish would have cost nothing. So, I don’t know what the dessert tasted like and really, the end finale should have wowed me, but left me scratching my head instead!
Understandably, Restaurant Week menus are served in smaller portions as a tasting experience, but I feel it leaves little room for error to make an impression on the public. This introduction is what makes one decide if it’s worth coming back again.

We celebrated a double birthday. We were amazed at this new bistro. The food was absolutely delicious. All four of us were completely pleased with our meals. The atmosphere was great, and we had the best waitress you could ask for. We can’t wait to go back. This place was incredible and we highly recommend it. It has become our new favorite place.
