Wonderful little whole in the wall restaurant and bar. Very friendly people! They proudly take care of their hard working locals and made us out-of-towners feel like we belonged there.

I was starving while heading to Thedford from Columbus, and I landed at this place. When I first pulled up, there was 1 car in the parking lot. The open sign didn’t even look like it was on, so I was questioning whether they were open or not. No cell signal on my phone to call, so I walked up, it was open.

I was the first one there, as they had just opened up a few minutes before. I wanted to try the chicken fried steak, but they didn’t have any. I’m a diet (Yes, I know, i wanted chicken fried steak on a diet. Leave me alone, everything else I was gonna get was gonna be healthy), so their menu was extremely limited to like 2 things I could order. As I looked at the menu, people started coming in. The cook came out and said they were out of hamburger buns and that everything would be made on sliced wheat bread. Not that I was going to get a sandwich or burger, but yuck. The only thing wheat bread is good for is making it toast and dipping it into eggs.

I ended up getting the grilled chicken salad, which basically is exactly what it sounds, grilled chicken that was diced up on some bagged salad mix. And a huge amount of sliced cherry tomatos. I forgot to say no tomato, but figured it’d be like everywhere else I’ve ever gone, and it’d be a couple pieces. Oh no, we’re talking enough tomatos to make some tomato soup that would fill a 16 oz bowl full. Yellow and red tomatos. Made the plate really colorful, but I don’t like tomatos so I had to take them off.

The salad dressing choices weren’t what I have on salad, I usually have french. Ranch is so bad for you and I’m not supposed to be having dairy on this diet. But I wasn’t about to eat grilled chicken and lettuce with nothing on it.

The young lady that was serving the food was nice, and keeping busy staying attentive to all the other tables. I have to rate it a 3 because you don’t have what I wanted. Your menu only has two “dinners”, and you don’t have one of those two things!

Stayed in town on the way across Nebraska. I was so glad to find the Lazy D restaurant open. It was late but the staff was very kind. I ordered a club sandwich it was very good and very big. I will definitely stop here again on my way across the country.

Down home vibe with friendly, fast service. Decor is not the reason to stop here. Shower curtain bathroom stall ‘door’ in ladies room with 1970’s carpet on the upper walls definitely needs an update. The chicken fried steaks were cooked to perfection and very tasty. The hash browns are amazing. Fried seafood items cod or shrimp were hot, crisp, and flavorful. French fries were also very good. Great location to stop at on your way North. Pricing is appropriate.

We needed a quick meal on our road trip. The locals seemed to like the restaurant as it was packed when we got there. The steak was very affordable and cooked perfectly, medium rare. The chef’s salad was huge! Highly recommended.

Great small town joint. I like to try things I don’t make at home, and the dirty bird sandwich fit that bill. It was delicious!! Going back for sure. Room for a big truck too!!

Picked up some burgers from Lazy D and they were great. The single burger was quite large, probably 1/3 pound, had good flavor and was not greasy. The fries were cooked crispy and had a fantastic breading on them. The price was right as well.

Pay attention to the walls, house rules is that they pour a double shot without disclosure, other than a 4×6″ sign in a area that does not catch the eye. Food was good though.

A little gem in the Sandhills! Hearty country fare with an artisan twist. Steaks are locally sourced from Outlaw Steaks. Succulent! Smoked steak salad… divine. Fried chicken Thursday, get there early. Cocktails are well made and generous. Don’t need to go to the city for quality dining.

Wasn’t open like it said it was. Drive 75 miles and nowhere to get real food? Guess we’ll try the next town.
