I ordered the 11th ave off the menu which did not disappoint! The wrap was freshly made and was portioned perfectly. Never would have thought zucchini fries inside of a breakfast burrito would be a hit!!!!
Will be back!
Because the timeline is being reframed this way, I also want to be transparent about something I previously chose not to mention publicly. During my first visit, I noticed mold on cream cheese blocks that were on display. I flagged it to an employee immediately, and it was replaced, but the fact that it was on display at all is unacceptable under any circumstance. At the time, I chose not to raise this further because I understand new businesses experience growing pains and I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt.
However, since the shop is dismissing my feedback as coming from “so long ago” makes that omission relevant, particularly when a more recent visit is being treated as part of that same early period.
Between the food quality concerns, extended wait times, and what I observed, I am not interested in returning. I believe feedback should be addressed honestly, especially when timelines are being referenced to contextualize customer experiences.
OG Post:
I don’t usually leave negative reviews for local businesses, but after two visits, this experience is worth sharing.
Our first visit was shortly after the shop opened. We ordered two sandwiches and were told the wait would be 30 minutes. We stepped out briefly, but when we returned, we were told it would be another 30 minutes with no explanation.
We ended up waiting about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The staff did provide gift cards as an apology for the delay, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the sandwiches themselves were very disappointing. One was bland and lacked flavor, while the other was overwhelmed with sauce. Neither was enjoyable.
Flash forward a couple of years and we decided to give the shop another chance, assuming the first visit was due to growing pains. Sadly, the second visit was worse. Despite the shop being nearly empty, we waited around 45 minutes. The bread was stale, the cheese was not what was listed on the menu, and the overall quality was poor.
Between the excessive wait times, food quality issues, and operational concerns, this place needs significant improvement.
I’ve been a loyal customer at Lawrenceville Sandwich Shop since the day they opened their doors, and it’s honestly wild how they’ve managed to keep raising the bar. The food is consistently fantastic, every sandwich I’ve tasted has its own personality, and not once have I been disappointed. There’s something about their bread that’s just perfect, and the ingredients always seem fresh, no matter what I order.
But what really sets this place apart is the way they treat their customers. Keith and Jimmy are in a league of their own when it comes to hospitality, genuine, friendly, and always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat if you want it. The rest of the staff is just as kind, going out of their way to make sure everyone feels at home, whether you’re a regular or just stopping by for the first time.
I’ve sat down for a leisurely lunch, and I’ve also rushed in to grab a sandwich to go, and every single time, the experience has been seamless. Even when they’re busy, you never feel like you’re just another order in line. If I could give them more than five stars, I absolutely would, places like this are rare, and I’m genuinely grateful to have them in the neighborhood.
