I am fluent in Spanish and was the one who had the conversation. I’m sorry that your employees are lying to you but that was the experience I had and have no reason to make stuff up. If you care about your business be more involved and hire better.
My husband and I came in on New Year’s Day at 7:10pm 2 hours before the posted closing time of 9pm. Upon walking in, the cook glanced at us and gave us a nasty look. We ignored it and began to review the menu and then got greeted by the cashier, she exchanged a look with the cook who proceeded to tell her in Spanish that the grill and kitchen was closed. To our surprise, we asked at what time they closed and she answered 8pm, when we checked the clock we confirmed it was only 7:10pm. The cook then told the cashier that it ”depended” on what we ordered whether we could get service. This is completely unacceptable, when we go to a place of business for a service, you never expect to be told you can’t get what you order. I hope the owner assesses these issues with their employees accordingly as now it has caused it to lose a client permanently at this location and the Denver ones.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Chicken Quesadilla. It was one of the best I’ve ever had—the cheese was perfectly melted, and the chicken was seasoned to perfection. Each bite was a delightful combination of flavors that left me wanting more.
My companions enjoyed the Street Tacos, which were packed with all the right ingredients. The green salsa that accompanied the tacos was a standout, adding a burst of freshness and spice that elevated the dish.
I also tried the Torta, which was very good. While I felt it could have used a bit more meat, the overall taste was wonderful. The balance of flavors was just right, making it a satisfying and delicious choice.
Overall, Las Tortugas offers an amazing culinary experience with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone in the Colorado Springs area looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine.
Normally go to Denver but was happy to see them in town. First visit not very happy but I will give them a go again in a few weeks after grand opening. Food was very dry and sadly made wrong. I asked for jalapeños and no chipotle but it was opposite. I think that’s what made it taste bad to me at least. Left the other half as I couldn’t enjoy it anymore. Employees were playing around and exchanging money with gloves on which defeats the point of wearing gloves in the kitchen. Only the cashier was friendly the rest were more busy messing around. Hopefully the next visit is better if not I guess I will only be going to the ones in Denver.
