****2nd**** derogatory review… unfortunately. A while back I posted about the mediocre “huevos rancheros” plate I recieved. *cold and overcooked potatoes…when compared to other people’s plates we passed while leaving.
My review 2years later on the same dish, but different problem. I ordered once again “huevos rancheros” in hopes that maybe a new chef could be capable of changing the credibility of this place. Well. I WAS WRONG. For starters, plate came with hard overcooked eggs, I ordered “over easy”, I asked politely asked for a redo, then when my new plate came, now the whites of the eggs where clear and runny… like raw egg. *I have eaten eggs all my life… I know raw egg when I see it. When I asked for the manager, I calmly and politely showed him the problem, and this idiot of a man, decides to say, “well you sent one back already, this is the second time”, instead of making a scene or getting into an exchange. I paid for me and my companions two tacos and drinks…. and we left. The idiot manager is named Robert…. apparently it was my fault both my plates where cooked wrong.
*Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED by coming to this place. Also, or waitress was super nice, prompt, and very courteous (Dulce was her name). This place may need a new daytime manager. Robert is doing a terrible job.
I included a photo of what my plate should have looked like… looks like Tia’s @UTSA knows how to do the job right!

I really like Las Palapas and have grown to appreciate the restaurant more and more the longer we’ve lived in San Antonio. I think their breakfast tacos are some of the very best and consistently good. They’re usually filled more than other similar restaurants and the green salsa is the best especially if you like spicy. I love that you can get breakfast tacos anytime of day. I appreciate the drive thru and the convenience of app ordering. I love picking up one of the very economical family meals to go. An amazing amount of food that the whole family likes. My husband and I also enjoy going on a casual date night here close to our house and with beautiful ambiance on the patio. Right now they also have live music on Friday nights. I have always had good service too. Highly recommend for casual and delicious Mexican American food.

Friend and I were debating which place we impromptu wanted to go for dinner, tacos came up as an idea but I have to be cautious about gluten (NCGS). I remembered this location and my friend had never been, but man it did not disappoint. I got the crispy taco plate with picadillo, they got the prickly pear margarita, and we both just kept having to take a moment because the food was just so good. Hit the exact spot of comfort food without feeling too heavy, would absolutely come back.

I got the LP Beef Fajita Bowl. Not too expensive paid average. Food quality was awesome, tasted fresh even at 10pm. Quantity good for price. Fajitas were soft and well seasoned not overpowering tasted like actual fajita and not just spices. The rice and beans were flavorful as well and not too salty either. Avocado definitely fresh. Presentation nice. Drive thru service was helpful and friendly. Didn’t take longer than 8 min from ordering to picking up at the window being that there were about 5 cars in front of me. Plenty of space to wait, well organized.

Do not come here. They act like they are doing you a favor for you coming there and spending money. They’re short when trying to take your order. They don’t know much about their own food. When I was done paying the guy closed the window on me while i was asking for salsa. And I had to go inside to go get salsa.
Even then, they told me that three salsas were good enough for 8 tacos.
Give a more deserving, business and ownership your money. Not these people.
Pick one out of a hat and any other mexican place around here is better.

I have eaten here well over 100 times (I host a weekly breakfast there and my family likes dinner there too). This is a funky kinda place. It is a hybrid of fast food and sit down. The location is a little run down but kept very clean. The food is almost too fast (you don’t finish your chips n salsa) and the service staff are lickity split and friendly. Oh, and they have a bar (I think a full bar (I don’t drink)).
This may legitimately be the best Mexican Restaurant within 20 miles (including the Rim – but Lupe’s is pretty good too).
Food is plentiful and the prices are borderline cheap.
They need some blinds or curtains on a few windows to battle the sun!!! They have a back room for larger groups (20-35).

Las palapas has some really really good Barbacoa!! It’s actually some of the best barbacoa I’ve tasted here in San Antonio and in Houston! Good tasting home made tortillas and good Menudo!!! Definitely returning back again! The people that work the registers could be a little better with customer service! Other than that good restaurant.

We meet family for a get-together at one of our favorite places. The food is always good. I had the beef fajitas plate, and the food was excellent. The enchilada plate was equally delicious. Service was fast and friendly. The manager Robert is always going out of his way to make sure you have a great experience. Our waitress Omega was wonderful. Highly recommend.
