They don’t have cheese dip of the queso blanco style. They did have a chorizo cheese dip but it seemed like they put in shredded cheddar cheese with some bland sausage and we didn’t really enjoy it. The texture and flavor were both off for our preferences.
The chips are decent but the salsa has a lot of Italian seasoning (at least oregano) and that flavor was overpowering. I am more of an onion/garlic/jalapeno purist and like my salsa a little thicker.
I got fajitas and they were decent. Price was quite fair. My wife got tacos and one of the tacos was in the beans, so it was a bit of a mess. The rice and beans were good. The tortillas used for the fajitas and tacos were too thick and therefore there was too much bread.
If they changed just the salsa and got that to match our tastes, we’d be much more likely to return. We tear up the chips and salsa when we do mexican and I usually put salsa on everything. Other people might actually prefer the way it is spiced, so if you like oregano then this might be your kinda place.
It was amazing! The food is FULL of flavor! The salsa and chips were great, our entrees were phenomenal, and we had a great time.
It’s nice because the servers aren’t overbearing and coming over every 5 seconds while you’re mid-bite. But I do wish they were just a TINY bit more attentive or aware when the restaurant is practically empty and you come in with young kids who get restless, quickly. That’s my only note, though! Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Combination plate one: chorizo on the taco and tostada was kind of gross. Cheese enchilada was fine as the sauce wasn’t super flavorful. chili Verde burrito was by far the best part, but still lacked some flavor and spice. Rice and beans were fine. All of it was relatively bland, but the chorizo was yucky.
Steak chimichanga: steak inside, smothered with chili Verde. Steak was very tough like spit out tough. The fried tortilla was good.
Moral of the story: you get what you pay for. Waiter was kind and the portion sizes were large, but the price is relatively inexpensive and it tastes that way. I think this is a restaurant where you definitely have to order right or else you might have a really bad experience. I’d stick to cheese, chicken or chili Verde.
