I was traveling from Austin south to San Antonio and looking for a really good Mexican restaurant that was on the way and here it was. Rated very high I thought while this probably is going to be a good one because it has so many stars. They were not wrong! It’s a very small restaurant and it’s right by the railroad tracks. It probably only has eight tables in it. However the food is really really good The chips are super fresh and I enjoyed everything. The lemonade the horchata is excellent there was nothing I could complain about. The prices were pretty good about what you would expect and I would definitely go here often if it was a place that was close to my house. Sadly I was just passing through but I will remember it though!

Came here today after reading reviews and seeing the pictures of the food, my partner and I came for lunch, and we were not disappointed. The flavors in salsas are perfect with everything. The portions are exactly what a person needs to feel full but not stuffed and we didn’t have leftovers to worry about while wondering around town. The prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding. Service was prompt. Everything is made to order, so don’t expect your food to come out quickly, but well worth the wait.

Excellent cook! The food is the prize here .. Expect a wait as this a small establishment wit minimal staffing. Lovely Frida decor / homage to La Casa Azul. Breakfast entrees: Ordered one migas tacos, basic migas taco followed by La Sol y la Vida, delicious, preferred the shredded queso fresco but does come with cubed queso fresco / Las Dos Fridas – fantastic dish! / Tres Leches French Toast – a tad dry missing a cream sauce (tres leches cream drizzle?) Coffee okay. Complimentary ceviche received was fresh & divine! Absolutely will return especially to try lunch. Support local.

What a delightful lunch we had today. We loved every dish we ordered. The house chips were amazing with the queso. The fajita was amazing, according to my son and husband, and we ordered the Santi Tacos, which is quesedillas with sausage, bacon, and carne asada. However, since I can’t eat beef, they were so kind to replace it with pastor. The service was amazing, too. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

We almost passed this restaurant up because we thought it was a takeout only. Thank goodness we decided to check it out! We came for breakfast. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. The food was extremely delicious! It took a little long for our food to come out, but when it did, it was clear that it was because everything was made fresh. I have never had the urge to lick the plate like I did eating at Fridas! The service was excellent, and the server was very attentive. Must try for sure!

After looking for a place to eat in San Marcos we chose this spot because of the reviews. When we drove up we were a little apprehensive, but I am so glad we ventured in. It’s a small, family owned place paying homage to Frida Kahlo. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable. The salsa that was served with the excellent chips was amazing. Everything is made from scratch so it took a little longer for the food to arrive but it was worth it.

My husband and I have been searching for a local gem and we FOUND IT! Very friendly staff, great music and vibes, fast service and amazing food. Loved the traditional barro plates, food had a perfect balance of traditional spices and well seasoned, everything tasted great. 10/10 experience and we will most definitely be returning to Frida’s!

Great food, very flavorful. Able to make accommodations for food allergies (THANK YOU!). The owner very clearly cares about the visitors that eat there, which is nice. The tortillas are home-made, which shows because they are delicious! Will definitely be back

I love the food and atmosphere. The tortillas and chips are homemade (which is rare in town). I’ve loved everything I’ve had (breakfast tacos, quesadillas, carne asada tacos, and their french toast). I am from a border town, Brownsville, Texas and struggled finding an authentic mexican restaurant in San Marcos until coming here. I’ve talked to one of the cooks and he’s from Brownsville too. He confirmed everything is homemade. Love this place, check them out.
