Nice place for an easy lunch. you can dine in or take out.
My Hotdog was just as expected: Creamy and well tasting saussage, a nice combination of sour and sweet. I loved the pickled peppers. Friedly staff.

After a long morning of Uber driving, I found myself at the intersection of Hwy 17 and SR 16 in Green Cove Springs. I turned into an otherwise desolate-looking plaza, save for the oasis, there, that is Larry’s Giant Subs.
It was time for lunch before returning to St. Augustine! For sure Larry’s Giant Subs would have something just for me!
I’ve never been to a Larry’s Giant Subs. I figured that visit would be perfect for a Caesar salad, as I often enjoy comparing this kind of salad, in particular, from one establishment to another.
I was given a choice between a large or small. I asked the difference and the sweet young lady motioned behind her to show me the size of the bowls for dining in. I was definitely ready for a good size portion of greens! I took a queue from a sign on their deli glass advertising, “Deana’s chicken Caesar salad,” having been brought back, “by popular demand.” So, I swung also for a good dose of protein.
Well, I’ll say! The chicken was delivered to me steaming on top of that heaping bowl of Caesar salad as you may see in the video clip. I just had to capture the beauty I had noticed about my lunch before I dug in!
My Caesar salad was so good and so filling I could hardly finish the last residing croutons at the bottom of my otherwise empty bowl.
The parmesan was shredded and the amount used did suffice!
The lettuce was a hearty green color all the way through–supple but absolutely of the nutritious sort! I love to see that Larry’s Giant Subs doesn’t hold back about the quality of the greens they use to make up an entire large salad.
The Caesar dressing came already coated very evenly on the greens, which I appreciate. It was a conservative amount of dressing–the perfect amount to serve for all levels of dietary preference when ordering that kind of salad. However, I enjoy dialing up the sensory experience of my Caesar just a bit.
I waited until I already finished all the chicken and half the salad before approaching the counter to ask for more dressing. I was happy the girl who took my order obliged my request happily without charging me more for the same kind of dressing.
I tried the cherry limeade as a fountain drink, but I’ll admit I left a bit of room in my cup to top it off with Starry soda. That made it even more fantastic to wash my salad down with!
Next time I find myself out that far at Hwy 17 and SR 16 I’ll be sure to stop in, again, and branch out to try something else on the menu!
Thanks Larry’s Giant Subs of Green Cove Springs! I had the dining room nearly all to myself during my visit, but I can imagine how busy and hopping your location is when droves of hungry people are coming in your door.
Thanks for the good, healthy, nutritious filling and tasty bites of salad. I hope to be back soon!

I was really disappointed with the customer service during my visit. I simply asked if the sausage for my sub could be cut, and the employee refused without any reasonable explanation, other than we don’t do that. This was especially frustrating because another location has never had an issue cutting the sausage for me before. It was a small request that could have easily been accommodated, and the refusal felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I come here often and expect basic courtesy and flexibility. This experience definitely makes me think twice about returning.

First time visiting, and the initial impression was lack luster. Ordered the #1 ultimate 8in and cost a little over 11 bucks. Wasn’t worth half. For an ultimate sub, there was hardly any meat. This did not live up to the name of the store, and I felt I would have had a better sub at a better price from the local grocery store. The plus side was the people working there were nice. Great staff just a poor product that doesn’t represent the name of the business. Nothing GIANT about these. And way overpriced.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I genuinely do not have words for how I was treated in this place. For starters, it’s Christmas Eve. I had a terrible day at work and had just picked my 8 yr old son up. We were on our way home when I last minute decided to get food since I hadn’t eaten all day and I was starving. I remembered this Larry’s was right there on the corner getting off from the shands bridge. I didn’t google anything, it was like 5:55PM or so going in so I figured it was fine. The open sign was on. There was another man going in at the same time as us. First impression of the lady at the register was her off putting attitude, there were other employees in there, but I only dealt with the older woman in a red jacket. But it was like our presence was a burden. I put my order in and she told us she would hand us the food when it was done, so we got our drinks and were sitting at a table in the corner. About five minutes later, I decided to take my kid to wash his hands in the bathroom; the door was wide open. We’re in the middle of washing our hands when the lady starts screaming “ma’am, your food is ready” like actually raised her voice To a higher volume than was necessary. I frantically told her one minute Because I taken back, so we finished and went and sat back down, and I started getting our subs ready to eat. She comes around the corner, turning the TVs off and asked me “are you guys gonna be awhile?” I said no, she goes “ well we have been closed since yall came in here, did you not know we weren’t open?” Or something like that With such attitude. This was when I learned they were closing. At no point before this was I aware of that. Now I understand their closing. I’m not the type of person to go to a restaurant before they close. A simple “hey just so you know, we are closed but you can go head and order real quick” BEFORE I even ordered would’ve made a world of difference and I probably would’ve just left to respect their time. It’s my fault for not checking the website but the OPEN sign was on, they took my order and said nothing up until I started to eat. NOT TO MENTION for two people, an adult and a child, the meal was $35 plus the 10% tip I left (which isn’t required for this type of establishment but because it’s Christmas and they put it in your face, I left a tip) but I definitely shouldn’t of based on this experience. Right after that, I immediately packed our sandwiches back up after only taking one bite and rushed my child out the door to drive 30 minutes home to finally eat my food. She didn’t say thank you, happy holidays, absolutely nothing as we were walking out of the door that she was standing right next to. It was so embarrassing and ridiculous with my CHILD right there. I will not be going back, and would’ve had a better experience at Walmart.

Atmosphere is clean but cluttered, however, there is outdoor seating which is nice in cooler weather. The prices are a bit high but the sandwiches do have a good amount of meat. Service was quick when not crowded. They have Pepsi products with very limited diet drinks.

Love Larry’s!
This was my first time going to this location. It’s located just south of town in near-empty shopping center, but don’t let that dissuade you from giving it a try if you’re looking for a good spot to grab a meal. They’ve got a ton of quality choices ranging from Italian beef to my personal favorite: the New York Special–a spectacular sub made up of roast beef and melted provolone. All subs come loaded with standard toppings unless you ask otherwise, but I recommend trying it if you’re not picky. Service was polite and the sub was ready promptly. They also provide a 10% discount to military, fire, police, and EMTs if that applies to you. Prices are probably slightly higher than average, but I’m more than happy to pay for the quality I’m receiving in return.
Give this place a shot!
