Server was very nice about returning broccoli to the kitchen to be re-cooked.
Sirloin was very good!
We actually sat with our food in front of us for over 8 minutes, without eating utensils! The waiter recognized that we had no silverware when he brought our food, but proceeded to talk with another guest about the menu and take their order before bringing us something to eat with.
After finishing our meal we waited about 10 minutes for the bill. Once the waiter took our credit card for the charge, he was gone for over 10 minutes to process. We thought he’d left for the evening and forgot to bring our card back.
We arrived to eat about 8:15pm. It was not busy, we were one of only two tables outside. The waiter seemed oblivious to his lack of attention to us (and ignorance of the menu, I won’t go into that). He was a very nice guy, just not “attentive” customer service material.
I’ve read many good reviews of this place and can’t figure out why our experiences have always been so different. Even our company Christmas party was full of food problems here. All I can say is, we won’t go to Larkin’s in Columbus again (unless we’re just desperate like last night). It’s worth the drive to Lake Lure where Larkin’s On The Lake is always fantastic!
All for a reasonable price. They have live music on weekends.
Went back today, 2/13/18. Everything was great with one exception.
We had two desert cakes that were a bit dry and had that refrigerator taste.
It was a like disappointing but, overall it was another great experience.
When we complained the waiter started yelling at us and tried intimating us. We asked to see the manager numerous times but unsuccessful so after getting nowhere with this rude waiter we ended up leaving.
Not even worth 1 star !!!!!!
always gets blamed for the snail-like pace of food production and probably it is she who suffers in lack of tips. However, she was working hard to provide good service for her customers and hopefully everyone knows she has no control of the kitchen staff. Obviously the management is and always has been nonexistent in this place. We have made our last visit there.
The service was SLOW, despite the fact that it wasn’t terribly busy. When we finally ordered our burger, we specified that we’d like it medium rare. The server even repeated it back to us, so I know she didn’t get confused. What came out was WELL done and had, for some strange reason, been cut in half on the griddle before having cheese placed on it. I can only assume the cook was checking how done it was and lacked the knowledge to verify it any other way. However, why he or she cut it in half, saw it was overcooked, and then decided to put it cheese, etc. on it and serve it anyway is beyond me. Of course, I might have felt slightly more forgiving on that point had it come out in less than 20 minutes.
Our server mostly ignored us, perhaps because we were a two top splitting a sandwich, so our drinks were never refilled. Of course, judging from the rest of the tables, I don’t think anyone was particularly happy with wait times.
I gave it two stars because, despite being slow, not terribly good, and overpriced, there aren’t too many options in Columbus and this, while not on our list anymore, isn’t the worst place in the world. Plus, they do serve alcohol. According to a co-worker, the best thing on the menu is the beer. Just make sure you sit at the bar so you’ll actually get a refill.
