Reviews
The food was so good, truly palate pleasing! We had the Chicken Mole and Tampiqueña, both full of rich, delicious flavor. We asked to compliment the chef, and Chef J. Sanchez came out to our table to chat.
He shared his story about bringing LaPez Mod Mex to our area for travelers looking for tastes of home; such a genuine and awesome experience! Michelle, our server, and Jennifer, our hostess, were both wonderful. We’ll definitely be back!
Once my friends arrived, the four of us sat outside and received outstanding service from start to finish. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Each of us ordered something different to share, and every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared.
The atmosphere was vibrant and modern — a perfect setting for a casual yet elevated dining experience. We had such a wonderful time at this new, hip spot and can’t wait to go back soon!
This is the kind of Mexican restaurant I’ve been waiting for in Kansas City. The flavors were easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the city, and the creativity of the menu exceeded my expectations.
Now, the margaritas. Every one is freshly made and shaken with house-made juices boozy enough (in the best way) and not overly sweet. Truly the perfect balance.
I also want to mention our server. I didn’t catch his name, but he was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent service throughout the meal.
I will definitely be making this a regular spot!
It was a super busy night due to KC restaurant Week, so service was super slow. I would jot hesitate to go back though as it hopefully was a learning experience for them and the food was THAT good.
Our table of 6 was disappointed in the food and even more in the service. We had a reservation at 6:30, sat down immediately & left at 9:20, all because the service was that slow. We asked for our check and it was 32 mins before we got it. We only got 1 round of drinks because she came after the second course and were never visited by our server until after dessert. The flavors weren’t there from any dish that any of us ordered.
Disclaimer – we did go during restaurant week so I’m not sure how that impacted everything. We had been looking forward to coming for a while but we would never go back. It’s unfortunate!
From the moment we sat down, the service was a disaster. It took 20 minutes just to order a drink, and this is after I went up to the bar to flag down our waitress, and then another 15 to receive it. No acknowledgment of the ridiculous wait time. No “thanks for your patience.” Just silence.
Then came the main event: we waited over an hour for our food. An hour. At a Mexican restaurant. With zero updates from our waitress until we flaggedher down. No check-ins. No explanation. No effort to reset expectations or offer chips, salsa, or anything to smooth over the delay. It felt like we were completely forgotten.
When the food finally arrived, there was still no sense of urgency or accountability. No manager stopped by. No attempt at course correction. Not even a simple “I’m sorry for the wait.” It was as if this level of service was perfectly acceptable.
Dining out is about more than just food, it’s about hospitality and hospitality was nowhere to be found here. Long waits happen, kitchens get backed up but indifference is inexcusable.
If you value your time, basic communication, or even a hint of customer service, dine somewhere else.
