I’ve been here more than ten times, so this is coming from love—this place is almost perfect. The food is delicious, the ambiance is great, and the service is good (though it could be better). It’s one of my go-to spots.
That said, when prices climb this high, you start noticing the little things. Why does the iPad menu look ready to take orders but… doesn’t? Don’t worry, I’ll still tip—I just want efficiency. They’re quick and friendly when taking orders, but somehow harder to find when you’re ready for the bill. And the plates? Beautiful, but oddly hard to eat from.
Okay, complaints over. It’s still very good, still worth it, and still a favorite.
Final verdict: 4.5 stars (I’ll round it to 5 stars). Fantastic spot, slightly dramatic pricing, and yes… I’ll still be back.

Lantern in Alexandria, VA was absolutely outstanding. The food was incredible and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The orange chicken was crispy and delicious with just the right balance of sweetness and spice, and the beef and broccoli was tender and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was excellent and clearly made with care.
The service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. They created a welcoming atmosphere that made the whole experience even better.
If you’re looking for amazing food and great service in Alexandria, I highly recommend Lantern. We will definitely be coming back!

Nice place for dinner and karaoke.
Came here for dinner and ended up doing karaoke as well. The food was solid — flavorful and not overly toned down. We ordered Maoxuewang, Stir-fried Double Crispy, Spicy Intestines, and Fengdu Spicy Chicken, and everything was well cooked.
The karaoke was a pleasant surprise. The song selection is very comprehensive with both Chinese and English songs, and the sound system is good. Overall, a fun spot for dates or small group gatherings.

Amazing food and great atmosphere! The dishes were full of authentic Sichuan flavor — spicy, rich, and beautifully presented. Loved the boiled beef, dan dan noodles, and eggplant. I went here with my friend for dinner. The food was pretty good. The menu threw me off at first because the meat items were separate from the sides. Kind of wished our server would’ve explained the menu a bit but I was able to figure it out. And like I said the food was good. Also no one said where to pay the check. It was our first time there and we thought the check would be brought to us. We ended up asking at the front and that’s when we found you pay at the front. So it would be nice if they could ask people if it’s their first time and if they say yes just let them know to pay at the front. But other than that, the place is a good vibe!

My flight canceled and I was stuck overnight. Decided to stay at the Hilton near the airport and found this gem. I ordered a few different items that were recommended. All of it was delicious. My personal favorite was the round eggplant. I also got some fried rice.
