Lantern House & Bar is such a charming addition to Reston! The décor is beautiful—warm, modern, and inviting—making it the perfect date spot. It strikes that nice balance of feeling a little fancy but still totally comfortable. The restaurant isn’t huge, but there is enough space for small parties, so it works well for intimate gatherings too.
Their drinks are super cute and genuinely delicious. As for the food, the Mussels Royale is an absolute must if you’re a mussel lover—the sauce is seriously to die for. The bread is crunchy (almost too crunchy), so I personally wouldn’t mind it being a bit softer, but the flavor combination still hits. The summer rolls are fresh and tasty, and overall, the menu leans toward Vietnamese fusion. It’s not 100% traditional, but the flavors are enjoyable, and you can still find classics like pho if you want something more familiar.
Service is quick and friendly—our food came out in about 10–15 minutes, which is perfect for a relaxed night out without waiting forever.
Overall, a solid four-star spot with great vibes, good food, and insta-worthy drinks. Perfect for date night or a cute evening with friends!

This is such a comfort place. The food is fresh, and everything tasted great. The broth could be a little hotter, but I am more than satisfied with the customer service, the atmosphere, and how the food made me feel. I was also impressed that the cost was lower than other pho places, and I even got a cocktail here. I will definitely be back!

Fantastic food and affordable. Owners should be round of what they have done. Only one year old.
Thee deserve their high ratings.
This was our first trip. And we will come back again.
Their mango salad is one of the best: Sweet, sour, spicy and crunchy. It is a sizable salad we had it with our main course too.

The food here is absolutely amazing, and the ambience is wonderful. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I tried the salmon, and it was hands down the best I’ve had to date. Highly recommend this place!

I visited this restaurant some time ago, but the experience was so memorable that I wanted to share it now. It truly felt like a hidden gem! The overall interior was bright and clean, with elegant white tones that made the atmosphere modern and refreshing. The greenery walls and chic decor added a stylish touch, making the space not only perfect for dining but also for taking beautiful photos. Everywhere I looked, there was an Instagram-worthy spot, from the mirror framed with lush plants to the cozy bar area with warm lighting.
When it came to the food, everything was well-prepared and presented with care. The dishes were colorful, fresh, and full of flavor. Among the menu items, the pho stood out the most—authentic, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. The appetizers and noodle dishes were also delightful, with fresh herbs and balanced flavors that captured the essence of Vietnamese cuisine.
Service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Although some time has passed since my visit, I still remember this place not just as a restaurant, but as a destination for both great food and a beautiful setting. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Vietnamese food and enjoys dining in a bright, stylish environment.

We’re been here multiple times with the family (and little one). The food is just incredible. Everything on the menu is delicious, absolutely blows my mind every time the food comes out. The ambiance is SO nice. The seating, lighting, and the way the table is set is wonderful. The staff is so kind and the chef is a wizard I can only assume- if you end up with a long wait know the food is WELL worth it
Recommend the Shaking Beef and Bahn Xio, but you really cannot go wrong.

We had a reservation but the bartender made us sit right next to the main door, he said they are fully booked but we were there from 3pm until 5pm and only one table was occupied at any given point in time. The entire restaurant had empty tables and they could have made us feel comfortable. We didn’t feel welcomed at all. Chicken Pho was $35 and nothing special or different from a Pho at any other place that costs $15-20!!! Hawaiian chicken skewer had 3 small pieces and more onions! Spicy ginger chicken had tasteless chicken and felt like it was frozen chicken, very chewy. Pho had the same chicken, felt like it was frozen earlier, completely flavorless! We took leftover Pho home and the plastic container had a lid with holes pierced in it and the entire Pho spilled in our car. The server or bartender never warned us they had a cover with holes!! Now we need to get the car detailed as it’s stinking of spilled Pho! It was a waste of $120! I don’t see how people have said they got food here for $20. Never going back again and not recommending this place! They ruined our special day!

Two of us chose the Lantern for a Saturday late lunch. Management must have changed because the meal was terrible.
The appetizer, Fried Tofu with Lemongrass also included chunks of green pepper and onions. Rate it 7.
But my main dish of Caramelized Fish in a hot pot turned out to be one of the worst versions I have ever encountered. First, the dish is supposed to feature flaky fish, cooked in plenty of that dark caramel sauce. This pot had almost no sauce. None. The fish felt like rubber. I’m guessing they microwaved it. Blobs of extremely hot….blobs. No veges added, and two very spicy peppers hidden inside. Unfortunately I bit into one, and suffered the consequences.
Almost as bad, the staff kept spraying this nasty disinfectant on tables while we tried to eat. It had an extremely harsh scent, and burned my friend’s eyes.
Also, they ignored us after delivering the appetizer and entree at the exact same time. Bad service decisions.
My friend’s tofu and vegetables in brown sauce tasted merely average. Not interesting at all.
Sadly, we will not be returning.

This is my boyfriend’s & I’s favorite hidden gem! The atmosphere is so comforting, the couch + thai tea combo is great for the soul for alc lychee mojito! In all seriousness, we visited near when it first opened, the decorations, menu, and details just keep getting better. For the food animal fires with beef is a MUST every time, the paradise noodles is really good, I also like the pineapple fried rice. The crispy noodles are literally crispy which was different but enjoyable the more we ate & mixed it with the sauce. I also had the stone rock pho for this first time yesterday. I just wish the beef was marinated in the same way the animal fries are but I’m not sure if that’s counterproductive because it’s meant to be similar to a mini hot pot experience. For dense the mango mousee Nonetheless, eat here !!
