I read several reviews and decided this restaurant would be a good place to try. My husband and I shared a BBQ pork sandwich, fried okra, fried green tomatoes, and mac & cheese.

The BBQ pork sandwich was just okay for me, mainly because I’m not a fan of vinegar-based sauces. I did enjoy that the pork had skin on it. The fried okra was good, and the fried green tomatoes were decent.

Unfortunately, the mac & cheese was not good at all. I’m not sure what was added to it, but it tasted like it may have been reheated with some type of broth, which threw the flavor off.

Overall, the food just wasn’t to my liking.

The food was OK, but nowhere near worth the wait, which was about an hour and a half. I ordered a regular pork plate and 2 sides. When I finally got my food, one of the side were wrong. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t have another hour to wait for my side to come out.

Overall, decent food, no better or worse than you’d get from one of the usual BBQ chain restaurants, but an insanely long wait time.

I phoned my order in and was pleased with the young woman who answered and took my order. She repeated it back to me. When I arrived I had to wait about 3 or 4 minutes which wasn’t a problem. It was lunch time and they were busy. I ordered a large BBQ pork sandwich plain with sauce on the side and an order of corn nuggets. I can never wait until I get home when it comes to corn nuggets. So I reached in the bag to grab one. They were piping hot just like I like them. I broke it in half to cool. They were delicious and fried to perfection. When I got home my bbq sandwich was just how I ordered, plain with sauce on the side and still warm. There was so much meat on it I could’ve made 2 sandwiches. It was also yummy with the best part being the skin. The sauce is always great with just the perfect amount of spices.

While in Selma, I wanted to eat at a black-owned restaurant. Lannie’s is a different experience if you’re visiting from a northern city. They treat you like family, and I say “treat you like family”, I mean they will turn away and talk to someone else while you are talking to them – just like family! LOL. There is a dining room but no table service. You order your food like a takeout restaurant and you may take a seat in the dining room. There are no posted menus and it was obvious that I was a tourist when I was the only person in the busy lobby who asked to one. I think the price of a rib dinner on the menu was a little less than what I was charged. They were taking orders in a notebook and had a little confusion about who ordered what. However, the food was great and the price was much less than I expected. Overall, I recommend Lannie’s. The food tastes like good home cooking and the staff is down to earth. It’s a vibe.

We went on a Monday afternoon, the staff is friendly and helpful. They had a great selection of BBQ items side’s to satisfy your cravings. Prices are very reasonable, and the serving sizes are great. If you are looking for an authentic BBQ with a good reputation, Lannie’s is a great option

Good little spot for a quick bite. Onion rings were good, not really sure what I was getting into when I ordered a pork chop sandwich. For whatever reason I did not realize it would still have the bone in it lol that’s completely my bad. I think the sandwich sat for a little bit, bread was a little soggy but still good. My buddy ordered the chicken and he said it was good, good flavor and the sauce was good. Overall decent place.

Food here was great. Be prepared to wait for a minute. The pork was moist and the sides were all good(Mac and cheese) (Collard greens). The atmosphere is somewhat of going over someone’s house. There was items packed up and random items seating in booths. So if you have some where to eat your meal, get it to go.

We were visiting Selma for King’s birthday, from out of state. We wanted to viisit the historical sites and decided to go to Lannie’s for dinner and were extremely disappointed with the food and service! We waited about an hour for our food. We were happy to do this if the food was good but it was not! My mom ordered beef brisket but she said it was like a barbecue roast. The ribs were pretty bad as well. Very large, the bones were black, and not seasoned. They also still had the membranes on. The greens were sour, and the mac and cheese was bland. The wings were huge, bbq sauce was thin and sour, and none of the fried foods were crispy. I think they probably should have cut air holes into the boxes so the meat didn’t sweat. Lastly, after waiting an hour, the woman taking orders had the nerve to have an awful attitude. She might have felt overwhelmed but it still isn’t an excuse to be short and impatient with customers. She also charged my mom 50 cents for a cup of ice. 50 cents!!! After waiting an hour, AT LEAST the cup of ice could have been free. And after all that, the food was below average at best. We decided to try this place because of all the reviews but I wanted to add a different perspective. And I have tried to call the restaurant to give them a chance to make it right but we’re not able to get through. I will try to call again tomorrow and I am happy to delete this review if they seem receptive to the feedback!

Again very sad to be served this

Hubby and I grabbed lunch from here today. We were told go to Lannies #2 as they had more sides. For now both locations are take out only. We got pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, fried okra, and collards and every single bite was delicious!! Hubby said best collards he ever had, ever! Okra was swinging with thick breading that was crispy but not greasy. Mac and cheese was yummmy. And importantly BBQ was on point! Highly recommend!
