Please understand that this review is generous. We had lunch today for about $125 for five people, we ordered family style off the menu. My daughter pulled 2 hairs out of her food, and I pulled a short black curved hair out of my food. I wanted this to be a nice meal, as my wife and I had our first date 45 years ago at a nice Chinese restaurant and realized that our teens had never been to a sit-down Chinese restaurant (their experience with Chinese food has been limited to Panda Express and China Bistro. I read the recent Yelp reviews that are overwhelmingly positive for this restaurant over the last 3 years, so drove across town to try it out.
Long story short, only the egg rolls had flavor, not the soup, not the mushroom chicken, not the lemon cod, not the bell pepper beef, not the fried wontons, not the deep fried shrimp, not the lemon chicken, and the sweet and sour pork barely, had flavor. We ended up taking home 5 medium containers of food, which I am hoping we can kick up a notch in our wok…however my wife has declined to do so.
As we entered the restaurant, an elderly man in his 80s told the cashier he had an amazing meal, other elderly patrons had the same comment when they paid. I am glad that for some the food is amazing, but it **truly** could not even come close to Panda Express.
I really, really wanted this to be a good experience, but it was just mediocre at best {{{sigh}}}

I usually have outstanding meals here. Usually. The egg flower soup was below average and bland. Smelled odd, like yesterday’s soup was added to it. My bell pepper beef had the toughest beef I’ve encountered. It was difficult to chewed up The lo mein was just too salty. They also lacked anything other than noodles. Same for the fried rice. I’ve never had anything bad here before. Until tonight.
Just gotta wonder …. what changed??

I come to Lam’s on my best and my worst days, and when I leave I always feel much better. The service is always great and you’re never waiting too long. I’ve come by myself more times than I’ve been here with company and tonight was no different than all the other times I’ve came. Great price, great food, and great service!

I ordered roasted duck on rice, but what I got was deep-fried chicken—feathers still attached! Absolutely disgusting and beyond unacceptable. I called the restaurant, expecting an apology, but instead, the owner had the audacity to argue and fight with me over the phone. This isn’t the first time they’ve messed up, but it will definitely be the last. Three strikes, and I’m DONE. Horrible food, even worse customer service!

The braised beef was authentic and amazing. However the tofu was too bland and the Spinach was way too salty. I will be back and try other dishes next time. Oh, and beware of the hot sauce, it is really really hot.

I’ve been eating out at this restaurant for nearly 20 yrs. The flavor, taste hasn’t changed. Unbelievable flavor. The food is always presented perfect and Hottt. Attending student at Bakersfield College your a heart beat away from a Hott Lunch at Lam’s. Atmosphere is a Home Sweet Home

Not sure what’s going on but lams used to be so good but lately not as good. I usually order the house special fried rice but its not so house special theres nothing in except rice and lucky to get a piece of cut shrimp and chicken beef . There’s just no meat . That hasn’t been the only time is the last several times I’ve been going.

I ordered bbq pork lo mein and egg rolls. Lo mein plate is huge, very good value. Pork has a good char flavor but not very strong. Egg rolls had a perfect airy crunch and soft inside, sweet and sour sauce on side paired nicely. Service was nice and fast, no issues. Overall great place, highly recommended

I treated my mother today at Lam’s Chinese food very delicious I had chow mein with BBQ pork and white rice my mom had white rice and chow mein and mushroom chicken and a side order of Kung Pao chicken with white rice I recommend this restaurant to anything God bless you all ️ and they serve you this delicious very delicious egg flower soup when you order your plates I just came out of there right now today’s date is February 3rd 2024 God bless you definitely will be back soon
