This restaurant uses the term Hibachi to refer to the Teppanyaki experience you’ve probably come to know. Proteins are sliced and diced and tossed in ice cream scoops of butter while swimming in cups of soy sauce. Claiming one Teppenyaki grill tastes better than another is like saying one McDonald’s tastes better than another.
What really separates one from another is value, portion size, the chef’s performance, and the food items outside of Teppenyaki. This is where they excel.
The Shumai and Quail Eggs were amazing! I ordered the salmon Teppenyaki with white rice and the fish was as expected. Most of these restaurants serve white rice or noodles and charge you extra for fried rice. This restaurant includes fried rice and noodles with your entree at no extra charge. The portions are massive and the prices are rather inexpensive compared to others I’ve visited.
The chef did an excellent job at entertaining and my kids loved it.
They’ve recently remodeled. They have 12 grills and the overall atmosphere looks new.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and have always had absolutely wonderful experiences eating here. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. Recently they remodeled (and it looks AMAZING!) and I wasn’t aware that they had also modified their menu a bit, so I ordered ahead some shrimp tempura rolls and was surprised to find that the recipe had been slightly changed. I asked the hostess with the beautiful makeup about it and she immediately explained the situation and requested for them to make me two new rolls with the old recipe very quickly even though they were about to close. They were very kind and understanding and I will absolutely continue to go there because the food and the staff are phenomenal. Thank you all so much! 🙂

Ive been coming here for nearly 7 years with my family and I truly feel this place needs more than just a remodel. The inside looks nice but now it feels weirdly sterile? It doesn’t feel comfy anymore 🙁
You’d think with the remodel they’d redo some of the food but alas no. The sushi is fine, that’s never been a problem. Its the hibachi that needs to be redone and I truly think its due to the chefs. I feel they just dont care about the food they’re cooking, and rush it. My vegetables were basically still raw and the rice and noodles were so bland. My fiance ordered rare for his steak and it was still cold in the middle. How??? I know the chefs are capable of so much and I really think it comes down to management. Ive heard through the vine that they get no holidays, PTO or anything beneficial.
Fix this!!! It matters so much, and the longer it goes on for the worse its going to get. We have loved lampu for a long time and would love to see it thrive again, but as of right now id rather go somewhere else for the price.

The restaurant looks great after the renovation. Same great food. Filet Mignon is amazing every time. Great portion sizes. I saw a review saying smaller portion sizes but we didn’t notice that at all. In fact, the portions seemed even bigger. Everyone in our party of 7 loved it.

Would give zero stars if possible. Absolutely horrible experience. Refused to serve us due to there not being a full table. We left there and went to Kiku down the road. Staff was more than welcoming and experience was excellent.

We arrived for dinner at Lampu Japanese Steakhouse a little after 4 PM. I’ve never been impressed with the very well-worn decor, paint, and tattered booth seats. If you can look past that the food is really good. But, it does leave me suspicious.
We ordered several rolls, and I added the house combo hibachi as it’s enough to make another meal or two from it.
We also ordered drink, my wife likes the Blue Hawaiian as she says, they know how to make it right. I thought my drink was just an odd fruity rum drink. I’ll stick with bourbon whisky.
The three rolls did take a while, and the house combo plate wasn’t as much as it had been before the economy slowed, but everything was tasty and good.
As always, our server was very entertaining and the food very good. Enjoy.

I went in today and ordered take out. 2 house specials, Xtra order of veggies and white sauce. Got home and it was not edible. The chicken was scortched and hard as a rock, the shrimp was like tough and super chewy, the steak was overcooked, definitely not medium rare, the veggies, rice and noodles were also scortched. There were egg shells in the rice and small solid hard black object that hurt my tooth when I bit into it. To top it off it was $70 bucks just thrown in the garbage as that’s where the food went. Total rip off. I will be calling my credit card company because this is unacceptable!!

First of all give them 100 stars! I walked in and was immediately greeted by hostess Camille. Who welcomed me and made me feel like family. Then was offered to choose anywhere I like to sit. She offered some tables and the bar so I chose the bar. The bartender Charlene greeted me immediately with a kind smile also making me feel like family. I was recommended to come here by a friendly local. I close my beverage. Then chose my first role of sushi. I asked the bartender for a recommendation she said raw or cooked and knew I wanted raw we said it at the same time. Peyton and Jeanine assisted Charlene to give me the perfect sushi dinner! thank you so much for your perfect service. I will visit you and comment again soon. M.C. waiter @ N.C.L. The food is really good, hibachi is entertaining and the service is great. There’s a $4 fee for food sharing, but it’s worth it because plates are huge. This is not a fancy place. It is well suited for a relatively fast dinner. And at about $20 a person, the price is right.
