Apparently, they treat their menu like a work of fiction. I ordered Paneer Makhni with naan and Chole with 2 bhature. What did I get? Zero naan and just 1 lonely bhatura—maybe the chef ate the rest?
When I called, they swore they’d “fix it.” Translation: they said whatever came to mind to get me off the phone, then promptly forgot I exist. Amazing customer service — if you’re running a clown show.
Maybe Lal Qila thinks naan and bhature are optional decorations, not actual food people pay for. Or maybe their staff just can’t count beyond one. Either way, this place is a disgrace.
Save yourself the money and frustration. Unless, of course, you enjoy gambling on whether your food will even show up — in that case, Lal Qila is the casino of incompetence.
The Burns Road (yes the one that evokes childhood memories for many but totally unfamiliar to yours truly) Seekh Kabab Fry was more suited to be doused with a paratha or two but in my limited wisdom I chose to experiment with Kandhari Naan. Needless to add, I enjoyed both. The kebab spices were a rare restaurant dining treat because most restaurants do not use the key spices in controlled quantities to impart the distinctive taste of “seekh kebab”.
The Namkeen Goat Karahi was indeed special. The only criticism, and a minor one at that, is that the chef adopted the prevailing practice of not trimming the meat. Why rely on a butcher’s cut? Expediency?
The Kasuri Falooda was good too but ever so slightly thin because the ice-cream had not fully dissolved. Perhaps another tablespoon or two of the ice-cream would have made it perfect.
Sincerely appreciate the service. Even though the place was busy with two large gatherings (and the inevitable noise) the staff continuously kept attending our table. Every request on our part was met with a smile.
The interior decor was not our cup of tea but then we probably have a minority opinion in these types of decorations. Don’t have any suggestions on this matter except to ignore it and enjoy the food and the service – which is precisely what we did.
Best place in ctown for this type of food. Probably better than at least half of the places I’ve tried in Irving and that’s putting it lightly.
Makes me confident the 1 stars are fake or from haters. Business is tough in this area, I really hope this place doesn’t close down . The 1 stars are truly unjust and I’m very happy we have this variety here WITH quality
-Atmosphere is fine if super bright led light, fake moss wall and gold chandeliers are your thing
– papad as Amuse-bouche is a really nice touch
– I’d return here for the service and food
Do try Goat Karahi and Nihari with Naan and Gajar Halwa for the dessert!!
We ordered grilled nihari and chicken boti. Both were horrible in taste and texture. The chicken was extremely dry and the nihari beef was bad in taste. We also ordered a chicken kadai that was just filled with some oil with little to no taste.
