I love that they offer a gluten-free fish fry. I’m not celiac, yet I’ve never had any reaction here, which gives me real comfort. This tiny, no-nonsense spot has turned into our go-to place for simply great fried dishes. The flavors are honest, the food hits the spot every time, and it always feels like a relaxed, familiar corner to enjoy a meal.

We drove 40 minutes to get there and I will say it was worth it. My daughter and I are gluten free and my family is allergic to shellfish. I haven’t had fried flounder or fried pickles in years. It was a special treat to be able to have them. Thank you to the Lake Todd Fish Camp and our very nice and accommodating waitress Jessica. I hope we will be able to come back again one day.

Out of the way, classic fish camp. Concrete block building with open seating. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Seemed to be a lot of regular customers. Everything is prepared in-house and is excellent. Homemade tartar and cocktail sauces, ranch dressing, slaw… Everything was amazing. Most of the menu can also be gluten free! Get the GF fried pickles!

We had a carry out order…flounder and shrimp and a flounder and crab. My friend enjoyed hers and i ate some of mine. Everyone likes what they like. It just don’t seem as good as it used to . They did have a large group ahead of us so I guess that’s why we had to wait an hour instead of the 20-25 minutes that we were told when we called our order in. Im probably not going back any time soon. The husband puppies were cold and rubber like. The fish was thin and not very tasty. The red slaw was, well i don’t know how to describe it. Sorry Lake Todd. Didn’t want to thrown you under the bus.

Didn’t even know this place existed until last night. What a wonderful experience filled with great food, a fascinating history and, yes, true paranormal activity! The family members that host this restaurant are the nicest people! I’ll be going again for sure!

I was super excited to try this place as I am gluten intolerant and was dying to try hush puppies! We drove 45 minutes from Charlotte and the experience was absolutely horrible. We stood at the entry way for a solid 10 minutes before a waitress annoyingly asked us if we were there for take out. She begrudgingly told us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat with our two toddlers and finally met our waitress who didn’t say hello or even fake a smile (the entire time we were there). Our meals took almost 40 minutes to arrive despite the place being no where near full. At this point our toddlers were restless and the other waitresses were making faces to their tables indicating our toddlers “bad” behavior (who were really just being bored 3 and 1 year olds). When our food finally came it was bland and mediocre at best. Between the way we were treated and the bland food we won’t be returning. Don’t let the excitement of gluten free fried food excite you. It truly isn’t worth it.

We walked in and was told sit wherever you want. We were given menus and asked for drink orders. When she brought the drinks, I had asked for water with no lemon and it was wrong. My husband said I asked for water and didn’t get it. At that point we were told the Water was $1 and they charge for everything. I Thought she was kidding but we did get charged $1 for the cups of water. If your restaurant chooses not to use glasses and order paper cups why would you tell your customers that someone has to pay for them. Well honestly I feel like that is cost of doing business, if you choose not to use real cups or glasses. I was really not happy when the other table of people said can we get two cups of to go water and they were not charged. On to the food- the catfish was pretty tasty, the slaw needs work. Shrimp, fries and hushpuppies were just ok. For our waitress to charge us for cups of water, that was a huge turnoff for me and I will not be coming back. They were getting ready to close and I saw waitresses putting the chairs on the table and none of the tables were being wiped off and that reminded me why when we walked in that our table was not clean as well.

CASH ONLY! The fish camp is at the end of a long gravel road. They are open Thus, Fri & Sat from 4 until “about 8 or 8:30” according to one of the very friendly ladies that work there. We had flounder, oysters, clam strips, deviled crab, and popcorn shrimp. It was all good! Sodas are in the cans, but tea and water is refilled. You should try this place!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Lake Todd Fish Camp is absolutely disgusting. I came here hoping for a peaceful, enjoyable experience, but instead, I ended up with food poisoning from something I ate at their restaurant. I’m not sure what it was, but I know for a fact that the sickness I got was specifically from eating fish — the kind of illness you can only get from improperly handled or contaminated fish.

The whole place is filthy. The dining area was sticky, the tables weren’t wiped down properly, and the smell in the air was revolting. The staff didn’t seem to care about cleanliness at all. I thought maybe it was just a bad day, but after I ate the fish — which, in hindsight, should have been a red flag based on the place’s overall condition — I started feeling nauseous almost immediately. I ended up throwing up for hours and couldn’t even leave my cabin because I was so sick. I felt like I was dying.

It’s honestly unbelievable that they still operate. It’s clear that they don’t take any precautions when handling food. I’ve eaten fish at many places, and I’ve never gotten sick like this before. This is a dangerous health hazard, and I’m so disgusted by this experience. When I tried to tell the staff about what happened, they were completely dismissive, like it was my fault for eating there.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s unsanitary, unsafe, and clearly doesn’t care about customer health. I’m lucky I didn’t end up in the hospital. I’ll never return to Lake Todd Fish Camp, and I’d advise others to stay far, far away.
