Laguna has become a favorite for Taco Tuesday. I don’t think that the restaurant even has taco specials, but they do have lunch, dinner, and kids’ menus—all with tasty choices. A really good Mexican restaurant must have good food, good service, and good margaritas. If any of the three are missing, the restaurant moves down on my list. The last two times, our party of 12 has chosen Laguna. Pollo Loco has been my personal choice with delicious sauce on my chicken as well as grilled fresh vegetables as my side. Of course, the margaritas are very good, and they don’t taste like a pre-mix. Gorge was our friendly and fabulous waiter; he is bilingual. He is knowledgeable and conscientious, yet funny and personable. The bonus at Laguna is its location on the lakefront! And you can sit outside or sit on rooftop. I sit inside, but I still get a lakefront view with all the windows! One person in our party uses a walker which can be maneuvered easily in the aisles.

This is a popular place that deserves 5 stars but there’s no 4.5 stars on the list. Everything is top tier but had to wait to be seated. You can reserve an outside table unfortunately we came with several parties were held. The only thing that was negative was the bugs showed up but still worth it.

While visiting family in Lake Charles, we ate at Lagunas. The food was outstanding and the service was extraordinary! Hector waited on us each time; he is by far, the best waiter we’ve had in a very long time. Thank you Hector for making our visit memorable!

Lagunas Mexican Grill & Cantina offers a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is beautiful and the two story patio gives diners a lovely view of the marina. Jolene, our waitress, was exceptional. However, the food didn’t quite meet expectations.

Lagunas isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. It’s just kind of mid Tex-Mex and in a place like Lake Charles where there are so many choices, you really have to stand out. I’ve been twice and I just feel like there are better Mexican/Tex-Mex places in town. We got chips that were burnt. Their fish tacos are pretty good. Their al pastor tacos were so skimpy I was honestly astonished. The meat was dry and not well-seasoned and for what I got, way over-priced. The green sauce they give you is tasty. The soup that comes with the street tacos is good. The rice is bland. The tacos don’t come with anything like guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo – just the sauce, which was disappointing. Their margaritas are pretty good, but if you get one on the rocks, just know that they fill the glass with ice, so you get a lot less drink. They also don’t put salt on the rim. They have this fried cheesecake which is delicious. The servers there are really nice and do a great job.

Our waiter Jeff was a blast. Really had fun and had some of the best chicken flautas in Louisiana. Salsa is good also. Watch out, you may eat too much salsa and chips and be too full to eat your meal!

This place had some great food. My wife had the quesadilla, and I had the three tacos with rice and beans. Also, the draft beer was ice cold and delicious. Highly recommend!

Went her for the first time tonight and will never go back. There were no clean tables the waiter said he would get someone to clean one we waited so long we asked a passing bus boy to clean it. Waited for ever to see a waiter then forever to get menues then forever to give our order. I had to ask 3 different time for my daughter’s drink before she got it. Asked for salt for the table never got it. Once our drinks and food arrived we never saw the waiter again. We had to go down stairs and find him so we could get our bill. Then we had to tell him what we had because he didn’t know. This had to be the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant and will never go here again!
