Fiori’s is undeniably an Anchorage institution. Tucked into the middle of a residential neighborhood, it has that classic East Coast family-style Italian restaurant feel and a reputation built largely around its extensive whiskey list and bar program.

A few things to know before visiting: they don’t take reservations, it’s strictly first-come, first-served, and they won’t seat you until your entire party arrives. Parking can also be tight since the restaurant sits right in the middle of a neighborhood block.

We finally had a chance to visit and were hoping to enjoy the legendary bar program before dinner, but unfortunately the bar area was closed for a private function that evening. Once our full party arrived though, we were seated immediately.

The space feels like an old family home filled with eclectic décor, memorabilia, and vintage artwork. While you wait, take a moment to look over their impressive spirit collection.

Service throughout the evening was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. A true bright spot.

The menu is exactly what you’d expect from an old-school American Italian restaurant, with sections broken out by protein (chicken, veal, beef, seafood) along with pasta and pizza.

We started with escargot, shrimp scampi, stuffed mozzarella bread, fried calamari, and the prosciutto pizza. This is comfort food through and through: big portions, lots of butter, and plenty of grated parmesan. The seafood was nicely cooked and the stuffed bread was clearly house-made, but the pizza was overloaded with cheese and the crust was forgettable. The biggest miss was the calamari, which tasted like a pre-breaded frozen product.

For entrees we covered the spectrum with veal, the prime rib special, and several pasta dishes. All entrees come with a starter salad and beef dishes include pasta or vegetables. Portions are very large, but execution was uneven. The pasta was overcooked and swimming in sauce, the vegetables were over-steamed, and many of the sauces lacked depth.

We asked about dessert but were told they were all frozen, pre-made options, so we passed.

For a place with so much history and local loyalty, the quality of ingredients and execution was surprising. The friendly service and nostalgic atmosphere are clearly the star ingredients here. I’d return to experience the bar program when it’s open or for one of their Whiskey Tastings, but it’s not somewhere I’d likely come back to for dinner.

We spent 2.5 hours here and it was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had in Anchorage.

When we got there, only five people were ahead of us, but we still stood on our feet in line for an hour while half the restaurant had empty tables. By the time we were finally seated, we were starving. It then took 20 minutes just to get water and another 7 minutes before we could even order.

We ordered the cheese stuffed bread ($12), jalapeño poppers ($11), Caesar salad ($10), clam chowder, chicken Alfredo ($26), and the halibut almond crust pasta ($38).

The Caesar salad was very basic. The jalapeño poppers were just okay. The clam chowder wasnt good. The cheesy garlic bread was the only thing we liked. The chicken Alfredo was the blandest pasta I’ve ever had. Chicken looked boiled. Olive Garden would have been way better than this. We also weren’t allowed to order a side of marinara for the bread because the kitchen was “too busy”.

The halibut pasta had a very sweet, strange flavor and my husband knew he didn’t like it after one bite. When he asked to have it taken off the bill, the waitress questioned why he took a bite… which felt awkward and dumb. You have to taste something to know if you like it. We were polite about everything, but the communication from our server felt off.

Overall, the food was terrible for how expensive it was, the service was extremely slow, and the whole experience was frustrating. We definitely would not come back. Left us hungry and like we waisted our one date night after a long hard week of work. We’re pissed and wish we wouldve paid $0.

My girlfriend and I were so excited to try this restaurant out. We had been hearing so many great things about it. We were extremely disappointed by the food. The sauce is not very flavorful and pasta overcooked. My Veal was very tough as well and the breading basically turned to mush. The bottoms of our plates had a literal pool of oil in them. It was quite off putting. Also they really need a hostess as it seemed like the waitresses were the ones to greet customers. Seemed a little hectic. Took us a little while to get seated even though there were quite a few tables open, they were not busy. Service was fine I guess. Best thing I can say is the atmosphere is awesome and the bar is absolutely incredible. Other than that though, there will be no reason for us to return. Honestly just go to Olive Garden if you want better Italian food.

First time in Alaska and a friend suggested this restaurant we started off with an espresso martini and mozzarella loaf , which was delicious and I had the eggplant pasta. The pasta was a little overdone, but the dish was delicious. My husband had the veal and the sauce was a little too lemony for him and we had tiramisu cake for dessert and it was delicious. Service was great atmosphere was great and I guess we lucked out because we were told there’s usually a line to get in so I give this restaurant 7/10. I do recommend this restaurant if you’re wanting to have a good Italian dish with some good drinks and I think we’ll try the pizza next time because it looked phenomenal.

We finally Tried this restaurant after being life long Alaskans, we walked in and restaurant was not too busy, maybe 4-6 tables, right when we walked in they immediately said, “Sorry one hour wait” but the lady did say she can seat us, so we decided yes why not we made it this far, after sitting took about about 15 mins until our drink order was taken as well another 15 mins until we got them, so was good with it due to long wait for food, but servers where kinda going outta the way to ignore us, mind you we are not dressed up, but other tables sat after us about 10-20 mins after and was greeted with specials, and immediately drink orders with drinks followed, when drinks followed another server joined and I guess was a “regular” and definitely saw favoritism, with food drinks and checks up happening very frequently while our table plates stacking u, drinks ice are melted and felt like they went out of their way not to check up on due to regulars maybe tipping higher or what ever the case, but after a while our food arrived, and o decided to pick the more pricey side of the menu and got Halibut Parmigiana, while the Wife had Chicken Piccata, my Dish was good, the halibut was fried great. The Chicken Piccata had a huge zing/ lemony over taste, we had about 8 thin slices of lemon with the chicken which over powered the whole dish, would be an amazing sauce if didn’t have half a lemon cooked into two chicken breasts, we ordered the Calamari and Caprese. The Calamari was good, Simple. The Caprese was just deconstructed and on a plate. Very simple and a quick dish. We did get refills and check ups, at the end we decided to ask about desserts and decided to try the tiramisu, and that was definitely the best one in Anchorage so far. A bit soggy and watery at the bottom but flavor !!
The price was a bit spendy for the service that we got, as well observed a few other tables getting the same service while possibly “Regulars” or “ High Spenders” get the red carpet. I think if service was a bit more at heart or more meaningful would be a better establishment. But a very high priced dinner to be treated like 2nd class on the Titanic.

Fiori has been on my list of restaurants to eat for five years and I finally had the chance to! Fiori exceeded my expectations all around from the service, drinks and especially the food!

We ordered the Black Manhattan and the Fiori Cosmopolitan alongside the Mozzarella Loaf with red sauce to start off with. Drinks were spectacular and the Loaf was loaded with mozzarella cheese and paired well with the red sauce that it came with!

We ordered the stuffed chicken (spicy) and also the shrimp & scallop fettuccine as well. Everyone I have talked to always recommends the stuffed chicken and let me tell you, it was mind blowing with flavors and paired so well with the sauce! I highly recommend it as well, especially if it is you first time going. The shrimp & scallop fettuccine was also amazing as well. I love a good fettuccine and would recommend this if you love seafood! They put a good amount of seafood in it as well which was amazing!

Lastly, we finished it off with a chocolate cake. By the time we finished they were sold out of their Baklava which was also highly recommended. Personally, I thought the chocolate cake would’ve been great paired with vanilla ice cream or more whipped cream since it was very rich in chocolate.

Overall the experience and atmosphere was a 5/5 and i’m excited to go back to try different dishes!

This Italian restaurant was fantastic. By far the best I’ve had in Alaska. Our group was seated fairly quickly, and our waitress was kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu.

Service was fairly quick even on a busy Friday night. As an Italian myself I wanted to try the dishes that were closest to my heart as a child in Nonna’s kitchen.

I ordered the Fried Calamari Marinara, the Pollo Alla Calabria, clam chowder soup, and Tiramisu for dessert. All three were spectacularly delicious, fresh, and hot. An ample amount of bread was served at the table, making quick work of the delicious red wine sauce that remained on my plate.

I love this place and will definitely come back!
