Lagniappe is a unique, quaint restaurant that specializes in New Orleans type cuisine. It is different in this way….You seat yourself, order and pay at the register, get your own drinks and if you need togo containers, you get those yourselves too.
The food is made to order and reasonably priced for what you get. We had the shrimp and grits, the mother of all grits meal, and the biggest. We had enough leftover grits to make another meal.
The atmosphere was relaxed and felt like having a home-cooked meal. I’m excited to go back and try another cuisine.

The personnel were polite and served the food. The place was clean and tidy.
Food was extremely salty! Even for my dinner companion, who likes salt, it was too much. That detracted from whatever other seasonings may have been used because salt was all we could taste.
Maybe it’s the “Texas” spin on the cajun -creole…
This was not like any Cajun Creole food I have had in Louisiana or elsewhere, unfortunately, not in a good way either.
Prices are way too high for what you get. I appreciate the meals are from scratch and the cook and staff are trying, but I have to say this was the worst $70+ dinner I have had and we really didn’t get much food. I guess if one enjoyed the dirty rice and ate the huge amount served under the Catfish Atchafalaya, one could consider the meal huge, but the small piece of catfish, which should have been the star of the dish, was lost between rice and tons of etouffee. 3 small slices of fried green tomato for $10 was no where near worth the price. The stars of our dinner were the side salad which had more shredded cheese than lettuce and the greens. The grits were creamy.
Maybe we just ordered the wrong things.
We won’t be returning.

When I walked in there was only one table sitting, by the time I left the place was full and I definitely understand why. The atmosphere is very homey and the food would make you want to come back every single day. The sauteed crab claws are the reason I’m eating right in this review they blew anything I’ve ever had out of the water. Crazily fresh and super flavorful. Plus you get a lot of them. The catfish shrimp and fried oysters were cooked to perfection. The cheese grits were amazing and the cucumber tomato onion salad tasted as if it was just made right then and there. Highly recommend. I will definitely be coming back the next time I am in Tennessee

We had an excellent Thanksgiving dinner, thanks to the help of Lagniappe Bayou Kitchen! We ordered a Cajun turkey. It came with dressing, gravy & a side of greens. The portions were generous & everything was delicious! It was ready upon arrival & the staff were very friendly. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

I have passed this restaurant so many times and finally the husband and I tried it tonight. My husband loved every bit of it. I liked it. I enjoyed adding the last bit of my jambalaya to the rest of my chicken and sausage gumbo. The flavors mixed beautifully! I would like to go back but try a few other items like the shrimp and grits.

Wanted to try Lagniappe (lan-yap) Bayou Kitchen for a while and finally had the chance – I was not disappointed. Place was clean and has a little area to buy non food goods. Staff was attentive and food came out fast. The seafood gumbo was very flavorful and had a little kick which I enjoyed. Ordered the Mother of All Grits because I wanted to try the fish and the shrimp on their grits. Gouda cheese grits had just enough smoke to add some good flavor, I would have wanted to try the fish fried in some other form. I was stuffed halfway through and thought the entree was very good. Also ordered a 3 piece Beignets, which is where my meal was kicked up another level. Those were by far the best Beignets I have ever eaten..including Cafe du Monde in NOLA. They were crispy yet light and fluffy and not overpowered with the yeast taste. The ample powdered sugar was plenty to get your fingers gooey. Overall a very good meal that makes me want to come back to try something else!

It’s easy to miss Lagniappe Bayou Kitchen, the location’s kind of hidden and unassuming. Inside, it’s laid-back. You seat yourself, order at the counter, and drinks come in Mason jars. The food is the star here, so delicious, perfect for when you are homesick and need some cajun flavor: rich, flavorful, and comforting. You can tell they put their heart into the food and the restaurant. The portions are huge. I barely made it through half of mine.
We stopped while traveling, but if I lived close this would become my favorite dinner spot!

The staff is very friendly. This is almost a serve yourself place. You order at the counter, you get your own drinks and box up your leftovers. I have no problems with that and I’ll tip accordingly. The food was delivered quickly and hot! It was very good but a bit overpriced. This meal was $107 including the tip.

Birthday dinner of Shrimp & Grits was excellent!! The chef/owner was engaging, gave us excellent options for gluten-free options! The food was hot, fresh and filling! The Dessert case was a beautiful thing to behold the night we were there! The restaurant was clean & the decor is fun. I’m looking forward to stopping early in the day for some hot fresh coffee!
